BZ to the Seal Team that took the bugger out. I believe that the inevitable backlash is yet to come.  No longer do we fight men of honor who stand down when they have had their leader taken from them. We are fighting men, women and children who honestly believe that we (those who are not muslim) are infidels and that we must be purged from the earth for Allah.  Their organization is no organization. They have no Navy, no Marines, no Air Force.  No longer do we have battle fronts to send men into battle on. Instead we meet them and fight them as we ferret them out of holes in the earth, caves in the mountains and other places where they may hide. Their attacks are carried out by small groups of fighters who do not fight our troops so much as our infrastructure, our beliefs, our way of life, our centers of commerce and finally our hearts.  In the Marine Hymn there is a reason that the line "from the shores of Tripoli" was penned.  The muslim was our enemy when that hymn was written and is yet our enemy today.  Historically, from Isaac came those whose God is the Lord, those who hold to the Truth in Judeo-Christian faiths. From Ishmael came those who worship a false god called Allah. This battle started in the womb and will end upon the second arrival of the Lord Jesus Christ.  We may have short periods of peace but the battle will continue until the very end.

This is a time to celebrate and publicly give thanks to all of those involved in ridding the world of a very evil person. It would be nice in my opinion if we could refrain from disparaging any religion or it's followers with prejudiced and biased statements. Ditto for politics. In order for this mission to have been successful it took the cooperation of people of many faiths and political beliefs to put those aside and work for a common goal. That's the kind of teamwork we would all like to see more of from our leaders,  I believe!

Remebr the time difference. (CNN) -- In the dark of night, U.S. helicopters approached a high-walled compound in Pakistan on a mission to capture or kill one of the world's most notorious terrorist leaders.

Less than 40 minutes later -- early Monday morning in Pakistan -- Osama bin Laden was dead, along with four others inside the complex, and the U.S. forces departed with the slain al Qaeda leader's body to fulfill a vow that originated shortly after the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks on the United States

 

I dont think we will know for sure the details until the offical report is out.

 

Also a reports say that :At some point, one of the assaulting helicopters crashed due to a mechanical failure, according to the officials.  I would like to know who's Helicopter this was.

The timing of the announcement 11:30 PM on Sunday night is mighty peculiar...

 

Oh, and HOOYAH to the SEAL team -- it may not have been anything more that a 'normal operation' to the team, but to the rest of us it was certainly "medal worthy" in every sense of the meaning!

I simply copied reason that have been given for the disposal of his body so quickly.. I dont think there is any religious bashing.

I am so proud of our SEALs, their bravery and their professionalism.  They are a national treasure.

I don't believe that you were the reason for that reply. A commentator on the radio this morning pointed out that this was in keeping with the custom of taking care of the body in a timely manner and to show that we are not at war with Islam. Whether one agrees or not with what happened we must remember that we still have many forces in Iraq, Afghanistan and countless other predominately Muslim nations around the world; we sure don't want to make it any less safe for them.

I believe it also keeps his body or burial place if they had chosen on land from becoming some kind of shrine or making him a martyr. Disposing of his body at sea puts an end to it.  It has also been disclosed that this was a kill mission and never intended as a capture one.

And it seems appropriate to me that it was the Seals that carried out this mission since they are train for both land and sea missions. Personally I am just glad it was one of our Special Ops teams and the job was not contracted out to a company.
