My son is ship 9 div 337, same date. No idea if the divisions work together or not?
Hello Tony. Our son is in a different S/D (02/336?), but is scheduled for the same PIR date. We have the note from him that came with his personal belongings, but no letter(s) yet.
Hello, My son is in 03/336
Mark,
Hello. Our son is in the same S/D. His Mom is checking the mail every day, no letter yet. What rating did your recruit get? Our son Evan is in the AECF, so he stays at Great Lakes for 30+ weeks after boot camp. That's going to be an experience for him just for the weather (vs southern MD). Hope it all works out well for your SR.

Jack, We haven't received a letter yet but he was allowed to call us for some info and we talked for about 10 minutes so that was great. My son will be doing his A school in California.
Mark
My son is in 04/341. PIR date is 10/14.
My son's A school is Corpsman.Does anybody know if that A school starts right away? I believe it is in Texas.
Thanks
Mark,
Good feeling hearing from them isn't it? Our son made calls to us on Friday AND Sunday, we missed both! But he was laid up SIQ (Sick in Quarters I now know) Saturday after having a wisdom tooth pulled out. We know because a letter arrived today. He 'sounded' to be in good spirits, was glad to pass the swim test, and had an exam yesterday. Asked us to keep writing. I've been sending letters in microsoft word with photos embedded, and he likes that a lot.
Paul,
From what I've read on this site and others, including the RTC site, your son will have a short period of time after PIR, but not much. My son'sA school is at Great Lakes, and we have less time right after PIR to see him, because he has to report to that school almost immediately. Seems almost backwards. Keep reading blogs on this site and others and you'll find the scoop. Here's a start:

Jack, where have you read that the kids at Great Lakes for A school will have less time? That's contrary to everything I've seen. My understanding is, if they're not shipping out, they should have the weekend, as long as they're back at night.
if they stay at Great Lakes they have to report right after PIR. Several hours later(after check-in and all) they usually get liberty though they have to be back at base each night.
Brad I was trying to say what Paul explained, he did it much better. Sorry for the confusion. Trust but verify.

I've had some practice Jack!!! LOL
Received our 1st letter yesterday. What a relief. he told us the training officers love him, their always screaming in his face. I guess he has a great sense of Irish humor. LOL
