Thanks my biggest concern is his PIR if it is on Fri the 14 thats fine I just need to make sure so I can make flight and hotel reservations.  That's only a month from this Friday

Warren...this doesn't sound right..you might want to be patient and wait for the letter.  Your son left on a Tuesday, the 23rd.  For that week, the 23rd, 24th, 25th is all processing and doesnt' count as the first week.  My Son started the 16th and his PIR is October 14th so it seems like your son's PIR will most likely be October 21st if all goes well and as planned...if he passes Battle Stations and doesn't miss training for any illness.  Try to find out his Division number and check the PIR Dates above on the right.  His letter should tell you more too.  Check with his recruiter too...write to him, etc.  Good luck!

your rough estimate should be 8 weeks from the Friday after he arrives

The recruiter gave me his division as 347 which is in the group that has their PIR on the 14 and I have also heard from several people that have family members in 347 and the reported about the same day as my son and they said that that div is being push and will grad in 7 weeks

that is why I said "rough" estimate...there are "push" divisions and then there are a number of recruits that get delayed due to medical or other issues......in general they will be at Great Lakes 8 weeks.....

My son left on Aug. 21 - when he made his one phone call home he said they told him before he got on the plane to Chicago that they may push his group through training early. He's in 348 and his PIR is also Oct. 14.

the most recent example is PIR on Thursday Sept 1 due to the holiday weekend...if there is no holiday involved, then PIR is occurs on Fridays

Form letters are a totally separate process from the box. It can be anywhere from hours to days after he arrives. The best advice from anyone is this: "just roll with it." Everything from night of arrival to 1-1 day is different for everyone; my division had three different waves of recruits before we even started P-Days, let alone training. Once you actually get regular correspondence from your son, everything will start making sense.
