Well just when you think the worst you get mail and all is still Good.I received 2 letters from my Son Dalton last night and he is doing good one was at 4 weeks and the other said 27 days left. The last one asked for me to send him $100.00 cash back first class He is buying something for his Mother. I am not sure about sending cash in the mail to him. He said they start Battle Stations in 2 weeks so I am sure they will start in 1 week now. Looking forward to Graduation 3 weeks and counting!!!!

Hey Charles...I've been out of pocket again...but I also just got some letters from my son. He said a few of the letters he sent were returned back to him for some reason. Anyway...yeah...all is well...sounds like they're all progressing really well. Battle Stations and their final PT test are just some of what I think they're in store for next. I've sent cash before in the mail with no problem...just making sure it was tucked inside and not really visible through the envelope. Sometimes the best place to hide things is in broad daylight! I guess they don't know...for certain...if any or how much liberty they get until right up near the end. I can tell from the letters though...my son is definately looking forward to seeing us all again. I've been very busy...which has helped me to keep my mind off it...but I know in the back of my mind they're in a good place...so I guess I haven't worried about it too much. Hopefully the next 20 days or so will fly right by...

So you have sent cash to your son at RTC with no problems thats good news because I didn't know if they could receive cash or not so I will go ahead and send it in my next letter Thanks  Charles

Well this Navy Bootcamp is an ever changing thing.I got 2 letters from my son and the first one was real up beat and he was excited about getting to spend 6 days with us after Bootcamp and before he shipped out to Washington DC for the Honor Guard and in the second letter He was all down because he didn't pass the screen for honor guard and don't know how much time he will have to spend with us after graduation. It don't matter how much time he gets we will be there the whole time anyway and spend as much time with him as alowed. He will be going to A school like he started out going and will be in Pensacola Fl. I guess!!!  But at the end of his letter he was counting down the days and had 19 days to go.It is now 14 days and counting for us before we head that way and I am ready to see him!!!!!  Thanks for listening  Charles

Sorry to hear that Charles. Not sure if you're aware...but Honor Guard is pretty tough to get...so just being selected to try out is pretty damn good in itself. On brighter side...he's still in the best military in the world...still in the best Navy in the world...only a few short days away from graduation...and Pennsacola is a pretty nice place. Not sure if you've been there...but when I was in Biloxi for a year...Pennsacola was the place everyone would run to...to get the hell away from Biloxi. White sand beach and turquoise blue water...which Biloxi has none of!!! You'll have to go for a visit. Sounds like we're in the same boat regarding liberty. We probably won't get much time with them before they ship to A-school. My guess is...they won't care all that much...they'll just be glad to be done with Basic. It's a hell of a change for us...and I'm sure you all too...not having that son around anymore all of a sudden...but it's definately in their best interest to get away and launch a career of their own. They'll certainly be back when the time is right! 13 days and counting down...

Charles...also...check this site:

Yeah...my son is the tall skinny one who's smiling all the time...on the snare drum. A lot of the photos with the flag bearers are too far away to recognize anyone. They should be doing Battle Stations pretty soon...probably this week. Then as long as they pass everything...they'll trade in Recruit hats for Navy hats. Hopefully all goes very well...
