Does anyone know the dress code for civilians attending the SQT graduation?
Tags:
Steven,
Our experience was everything from casual to business dress (i.e. suit, coat & tie).
I would keep in mind that this event is a Military Graduation and would cater my attire towards the respect that the SQT Graduation deserves.
Good luck, to your son as he progresses in his chosen career.
Cheers,
WT
Steven,
WT is right on! Just be comfortable with your choice. I attended my oldest son's (Class 278, Aug 2010) and wore dress pants, a collared golf shirt, and a navy blue sport coat. There were a few suits & ties, and there were even people in shorts & t-shirts. I felt good with my choice (given the special occasion). I'll be dressed similarly when I attend my youngest son's (Class 289, Jun 2012)! Hope this helps. Hoo Yah!

Jerry, I wore something similar to what you did. I felt if my Grandson and his friends and instructors would be in Dress Uniform then I would respect that. I did not want to show pictures to friends and family of everyone in Dress Uniforms and me in shorts or jeans. The day was to special to capture it being dressed down from everyone else, not a go memory for me as I age.
Steven,
Yes it is appropriate for gifting, several things to consider:
Navy Deck Clock - http://www.restorationhardware.com/search/results.jsp?_dyncharset=I...
Or another idea is a replica of the bell.
Good luck in your search and congrats to your son.

This is quite a time in my life! Next week oldest son graduates with Masters from RPI and then its off to Coronado with you guys for my second oldest in 289. Not much to say but, WOW! Looking around at some people that have had trouble with the diection of their children, this year puts things in perspective and makes my entire life so far, seem to mean something more. I'm busting.
Congratulations and Good Luck 289!
Steven, Russell, JG, others -- sorry I haven't replied lately (we just returned home from out-of-town). After consulting with earlier SQT families -- we gave our oldest son an engraved combat knife. He LOVES it (so much that he suggested we do the same for his younger brother graduating with Class 289). I'll get the manufacturer's name to you soon. Once on the BUD/S grinder, we were able to take as many photos as we wanted. I can't wait to meet you guys in-person on Jun 8! Hoo Yah 289!! Jerry M
Gentlemen,
Re: the SQT Graduation gift ideas we were discussing a few days ago:
Hoo Yah,
Jerry M
They did not for Class 273 but there were a ton of still and video cameras brought by the families. I received several pictures from some attending that had my guy in their shots and mailed a few to families I meet there.
