Navy Dads

You may have already heard of or ran across this quote but I just wanted to share it with you all in case you haven't. Not really sure of the source...

"My friends go to college, I go to war. At the same hour they wake up to decide not to go to school or work that day, I've been at work for hours. Their alarms wake them up, my alarms send me to cover. They make plans based on how they feel, I do as the schedule that was put out to me demands. They can't wait to leave their homes, I can't wait to get back. But when we look back on our respective lives, they'll like theirs, I'll be damn proud of mine"...

It is good. I sent that to my SR in this mornings letter. His PIR is next week and I really think he will appreciate the quote as already he has commented on his friends back home. Thanks again.

That's great Doug I'm sure your SR will appreciate this quote! I saw several references online and FB on this quote. Whoever was the original writer he's awesome...

One of my fav is "E Pluribus Unum"...

“I can imagine no more rewarding a career. And any man who may be asked in this century what he did to make his life worthwhile, I think can respond with a good deal of pride and satisfaction: 'I served in the United States Navy.”

― John F. Kennedy

Good quote, Gary.

There is a quote from a kid who turned down a football scholarship to Penn State I'm rather fond of.

The kid had all intentions of joining the Marines after high school. After a visit and several calls from the recruiter from Penn State telling him how he was "born to play football", he replies; "I was born to protect a country, not a quarterback".

Good one Al!
