Navy Dads

This Discussion is intended as a place where parents and other loved ones who have SRs with a PIR of 30 November to gather and meet-and-greet and talk about this adventure.  Of course, I suppose anyone is welcome.

If anyone knows of others on facebook and navyformoms.com, please direct them this way, too.

Hopefully, this will be a place where we can share stories about phonecalls and letters from our SRs.

And I look forward, already, to meeting all of y'all at PIR.

Sincerely,

Scott

Attention on deck!

From RTC:

There will be FIFTEEN divisions graduating Nov. 30th. RTC is abiding by the policy that Active Duty/military retirees and children twelve and under do not count toward the 4 invitations each recruit receives. However, if an individual is not on the access list they will NOT be able to enter the drill hall (NO stand by). Please plan on arriving at least two hours before the ceremony, which begins promptly at 9 a.m. Thanks to all for your continued support of Recruit Training Command, the Navy's only boot camp!

One thing that my SR wrote in his last letter that really cracked me up was that he was eating good, manicotti , prime rib, and fresh fish.  I laughed so hard because I ate leftover chilli and lean cuisine microwave meals for lunch!!! I wrote him back and told him he was eating high on the hog compared to slop I was eating!! I was so glad to hear that there are some good parts about training, even if they are short lived!

We received a one-page letter last week, but no phone call yet.  We were hoping for one yesterday, but I suppose his division did not have phone privileges yesterday.  My wife says that there are many from Justin's Division on navyformoms.com, and not any of them received phone calls either.

Scott

First letters from SR arrived today!  Div 802.  Multiple letters in one envelope.  It looks like he was given some time to write earlier on, but not allowed to mail the letters until Monday.  He is in good spirits.  He says their chief is really tough, but the discipline is paying off.  He has learned a great deal and the division is shaping up quickly.  They still have some SRs that can't seem to get the hang of being quiet and it's leading to multiple forms of very creative punishments.   Overall he seems pretty happy.  He even included some funny drawings and took some opportunities to tease his siblings!

I just saw on the RTC Facebook page, there are 15 divisions graduating on 30 Nov.

yes and my SR is one of them ship 04 div.22 cant wait to go to GL

My wife just saw on Navy for Moms that division 27 was set back a week. Will that change the PIR date?
We received a letter today. It wasn't very long but he seems to being doing well.

Holy Smokes Batman, that is a lot of Divisions to be graduating in one single day!!!! Oh my!!!!!!

Has anyone with a PIR date of 30 NOV 12 received a phone call yet...

Hello All.... We received letters from our 802 son today as well.  He mentioned also that they were given only 15 minutes to write on the first Sunday, then one letter came that he had written in the dark in his rack, and another from this past Sunday, when they got about 30 minutes of down time to write.  They were not permitted to send these off until Monday-- so it seems like the mail arrives in 2 or 3 days, once it hits the mail bag.

He sounded good.  I know that some SR's in 801 got to make phone calls tonight. Maybe they had a really good day and the phone calls were a reward.  My son says 802 is in trouble a lot it seems and that it's been a humbling experience for him. The Bravo Zulus (rewards) are really hard to come by and the infractions seem to flow freely. The food is really good at times and really "fruit and salad only, for me tonight- thanks" at other times. lol

The worst part he says is that they don't get much PT time-- in fact they had some PT taken away for infractions, and he thinks he's gaining weight and losing shape.  He struggles through some of the more creative forms of punishment, like when they have to stand nose to nose, smiling at each other until it isn't funny.  ---Oh cleaning and folding clothes.... Not fun, Dad.

Well we got a letter last week on Wednesday and have not gotten anything since. If anyone in ship 04 Div 21 has any news on how the DIV is doing please let us know starting to worry a bit.

Hello Guys...

I am so happy ...today I received Cesar's fisrt letter...I am not worried any more...

He sounds really happy...He says that he is doing great, he feels happy, he is healthy and physically and mentally he is doing great. He says that the only thing he wishes..is for more time to be able to communicate with us. He is asking for everyone of us to write to him...a lot of letters ..he will find the time to write back.

He says that he hopes we are happy and that he wants to finish his Boot Camp to make us very proud..We already are proud of him...A Lotttt !!!

Proud Navy Mom Mariza
