Navy Dads

This Discussion is intended as a place where parents and other loved ones who have SRs with a PIR of 30 November to gather and meet-and-greet and talk about this adventure.  Of course, I suppose anyone is welcome.

If anyone knows of others on facebook and navyformoms.com, please direct them this way, too.

Hopefully, this will be a place where we can share stories about phonecalls and letters from our SRs.

And I look forward, already, to meeting all of y'all at PIR.

Sincerely,

Scott

Attention on deck!

From RTC:

There will be FIFTEEN divisions graduating Nov. 30th. RTC is abiding by the policy that Active Duty/military retirees and children twelve and under do not count toward the 4 invitations each recruit receives. However, if an individual is not on the access list they will NOT be able to enter the drill hall (NO stand by). Please plan on arriving at least two hours before the ceremony, which begins promptly at 9 a.m. Thanks to all for your continued support of Recruit Training Command, the Navy's only boot camp!

We got a letter today and he mailed back the questionaire we sent him (we found it on the navy moms site). He seems to be doing pretty good. Just a few more weeks

Idid not get a letter today..but my parents did....Cesar is doing just fine....But I can't wait for PIR...I miss him a lott !!!

Counting the days...22 more ...come on !!!

Proud Navy Mom Mariza

Got another letter too. He was so happy his PFA Went great.  Said they had a big inspection coming up. sounds like the DIV is doing ok. He said he is really tired and  most of them are at the point of exhaustion. Scott i bet they think most of the RDC hate them lol. How did his PFA go did he say?

ship 03, div 020.  Really hoping for a letter today.  One letter thus far.

Well since I usually get up for work at 0430 anyways this will not be a problem for me!  Plus I think my adrenaline will be pumping so much I won't be able to sleep much anyways!  I have heard that the Navy moves people in to the ceremony in an orderly fashion, so you would probably be fine to come in a little later.  Even though they don't always have 15 divisions at once, they are still used to accommodating this many people, and there should not be any problems...hopefully!

I read that some parents start lining up for PIR at 05:00 hours. With 15 divisions on 30 Nov 12 that's a lot of parents and guests. Talk about early. Is this for real or should I plan on this early start?

take shuttle....

none of the hotels "have" a shuttle, however, there are a bunch of taxis and shuttle services for very reasonable prices.....why fight traffic and parking when for a few dollars someone else can do the driving.....just my opinion after two PIRs

glad you are keeping different tactics in mind....what ever works best for you, just allow for traffic in and parking and the killer for me on my first PIR was traffic OUT after PIR.....

This is awesome news!!! I will take it with a grain of salt however because I am sure that this is a very difficult achievement.  I am so stoked I was able to talk to Justin four 1 hour and 12 min. and then he said he went and bought a roast beef sandwich and 3 candy bars, LOL, then he called me back for another 12 min. call!!!! I was so shocked (still am ) and excited to hear his voice!  Justin said he earned a 5.0 on the test as well!  I can completely believe that they call him Grandpa due to the age difference.  I have always said age is just a number and could not be prouder of Justin!  GO DIV 021!

hey look....the gate doesn't even open until 06:30....get any sooner and you'll be stuck waiting and then waiting in the drill hall until 09:00 for PIR to start so it is a balancing act between being early enough but not too late. There will be lots of folks so keep that in mind too

I got a phone call from my 802 son today!  I was so excited and happy to hear his voice.  --This, after learning yesterday that they had lost their mail privileges this week-- I'd all but given up hearing any news.  But then I got an ear full...  He's going to be part of the Adopt-A-Sailor program for Thanksgiving-- so THANK YOU in advance to any of you who might be adopting my boy for the day.  I didn't find out where he was going, or who he was going with, just that he was going and that he hopes to be able to call us again then, if not sooner.

Things are going well and the finish line is within sight!

So my SR doesn't like turkey but I hope he gets out to do something, he wanted me to come up a week early but can't so i have to wait till graduation. So HAPPY VETS DAY TO ALL and thank you for serving
