Navy Dads

Received our form letter informing us our son is on Ship 03 Div 163. That's really all we know for now. I've done a lot of reading and the only thing that I don't think we prepared for was getting him some phone cards.  After reading several advice articles, I ordered 5 ship to shore cards at $20.00 each, just in case he needs them, or knows someone who does.  We put 3 letters in the mail to him today and are looking forward to hearing from him to learn how he's doing.

Really looking forward to knowing when his PIR date is so I can book our flight, hotel, rental car, etc for 4 of us.  I like to be prepared and not knowing is a thorn in my side regarding booking the trip.  Just don't want to do it last minute and find out that all of the local hotels are full...

This is a wonderful site and I appreciate the warm reception and all of the help.  Mike

Thanks!

Thank you all for the sage advice!  It is very much appreciated!

The PIR is the 26th of April, my son is also Ship 03 Div 163.  Me and Beth have found a lot of info here, facebook site U.S. Navy Recruit Training Command and facebook site PIR 04-26-13 TG#24.  i hope this helps you out Michael

We also received a letter confirming the 26th of April.. Airline tickets, rental car, and hotel reservations were completed this morning.  Really looking forward to this!!!!

We were also blessed with a 20 minute phone call from our son on his birthday!!!  Craig sounded to be in very good spirits and is determined to meet the challenges placed before him.  We are very, very proud of Craig and his unyielding committment to serve our Nation.

Wow! My wife just called me and was very excited to report that our son Craig was allowed to call again today and talk to her for a few minutes!  She was elated and couldn't wait to tell me!!!  He's doing well but still has a challenge ahead of him to achieve his running and pushups requirements.  Craig is both dedicated and determined to reach these goals and I'm confident that he will.  I'm guessing he must be doing pretty good or he wouldn't have been allowed another phone call.  Hang in there Sport!  You can do it!!!!!

Hi listen do NOT send her anything then letters supporting her. I have 2 sons who went through at different times 6 years apart. Write her as much as you can she will get every letter. You will not get a letter from her for about 3 weeks. She's fine. Just write her a letter no calling cards no care packages nothing other than a letter. Trust Me

Already sent phone cards.  Seems I read that this was ok...

Chances are the RDCs didn't catch the phone cards, but he won't be using them. He's fine don't worry been there twice. From now on please I'm not steering you wrong only letters. He will get everyone of them, although you won't hear from him letter wise for a couple of weeks. Whatever you do DO NOT SEND A CARE PACKAGE that goes for anyone else who sees this. They will torture them. You loved ones are fine. No news as hard as it is, is exactly what you want to hear, until they get through Battle Stations. Good Luck
Mike I didn't realize he so far through your almost at the end. I thought he just went in. We in about 2 weeks he will call right after battle stations probably around the Tues of Graduation or Wed

Thank you for the information..
