Navy Dads

My son just reported for duty on board the USS Carl Vinson and I'm trying to assist him with the purchase of sheets (I know what you're thinking--he should get that from his shipmates).....he's got a free night to try and get settled in, so he was hoping to get an answer tonight....if anyone can assist, thanks!  I'm of no help, as I'm an old Air Force vet :o)

Make sure that they are white unfitted sheets. I think that twin size works. If there are doubts use full size sheets.  Safety pin the far side of the sheet on the underside of the mattress. That will make making the rack in the morning much easier.

Thanks much!!!!!!!

To figure out how long your rack is, Navy enlisted mattresses come in three sizes: 72-1/2 x26x3, 76x26x3 & 80x26x3 inches. Submarine crews get thicker mattresses: 73x24x4-1/2 or 76x24x4-1/2 inches.

I am visiting with my son now or will be at 0100 pst...he is at range training today, but sleeps on those racks...I will confirm what he likes...I know they definitely like their own pillow cases, as I bought him a couple...I will report back in about 6 hrs from now...

I'm on my dad's account right now, and im actually stationed on the Vinson. Sheets-wise, he sould be able to get some issued to him. If he doesn't, he can bring it up with someone and they will help. He could also get his own sheets (twin size). I got my own. And a few basics of being on the ship (in case he doesn't know already).....  1. All electronics must be safety checked (or at least their cords).  2. Get a "navy cash card" b/c that is all the vending machines and ship's store accept.   3. No extension cords   4. he can have 2 pillows
