My daughter made it almost all the way through bootcamp, the only things she didn't do were Battlestations and graduate. Her problem was that she couldn't pass the run for the PFA test and while in the FIT program she got bronchitis. She was given time to heal and she was later declared fit for duty, but she just couldn't make the run. Today she called and said she took her last test and missed by 13 seconds, and that she is going to be processed out. And could try to re-enlist after 6 months.  I told her to try and appeal being separated. Ask, beg if need be, for more chances and more time to train. She said she is willing to do that. She is supposed to call me in a few days. What advice/directions can I give her. If any?

My daughter is in a similar situation after failing out of nuke school. Here is the advice I have given my daughter....anything worth having is worth fighting for...the bigger the fight the bigger the reward. Tell her to stay positive and keep motivating her. The problem with fighting it is it may change her reenlistment code. We found this out after she started her fight. Let your daughter know that you love her and are proud of her no matter what happens. Send me a personal message and we can talk more. Good luck my thoughts are with you. I COMPLETELY understand what you are going through.

Tell her to keep her head up. They have procedures in place and unfortunately being caught in the system I doubt there is room to wiggle.

I know people that have had kids go into Nuke and fail. They were afforded other career opportunities. My brother was a nuke in the early 90's and the failure rate at that time was pretty high. Good luck.
