PIR 30 December, 2009 "Navy Boot Camp Graduation"

It appears that there will be lots of us at Great Lakes on this date, God willing. I've read lots and lots of great tips for the graduation from this site and Navy4Moms... Maybe we can keep each other advised as we move forward. My son, David is in Ship 09, Div 038. I understand that PT starts today and swim test is tomorrow. God bless them all.

Thanks, Shane. I'm sure it'll be an adventure and we're looking forward to it. Sean has family coming? I'll try to locate him and get you a picture or two.

you guys have a safe trip getting there, looks like lots of snow in the mid-west. When I talked to Sean late yesterday afternoon he said it was really starting to snow.
Yeah, his mother and sister are leaving Yakima Tuesday afternoon and plan on being in Great Lakes Tuesday night. They are planning on staying through Friday night and heading back either late Friday or early Saturday. How long are you planning on staying there? I would appreciate any pictures that you can get.

Hello my friends and Family
We are ready to go.
Already packing.
Already check the mini van (tires, belt, antifreeze, wipers, etc).
My son call us yesterday (Saturday) and asking for the hotel info, He is ok and very happy.
We go to stay in the Embassy Suites @ Deerfield about 12 miles from the Base.
I still pray for good weather. We start driving Monday 28 @ 12pm aprox. From Tampa, Fl to GL.
Hope to see you my friends and Family @ PIR .
Safe travels for all attending PIR 30DEC09. Our prayers go out for all those remaining to complete their Battle Stations today and early this week. Good luck to all and hope to see you there. It should stop snowing in GL today and sunny for Tuesday. Can't speak for Wednesday's weather????????
Christopher and Paul,
Good luck to you both as you travel. Extended forecast looks pretty good for now- but I have no faith in those who try to predict weather. We leave from Orlando on Tuesday morning and fly into Milwaukee. Arrive at 11am... We'll make a dry run to the base Tuesday afternoon but right now I'm leaning toward taking the shuttle to the PIR or a taxi. I've read time over and over how long the lines are if you drive. Excited to finally be so close to going!

Mark & Christopher....hope you have a great PIR experience at GL! We sure did on Dec 4. The weather was clear and cold but it was an experience we'll never forget. Now, our son is in MA school in San Antonio and is already thinking of going into special ops specializing in bomb defusing. Have a safe trip and God Bless.
All,
We're here! Finally. The weather is good- It's cooold but that's to be expected. Hope everyone arrived safely. More tomorrow.

Mark:
