Rick thanks for joining. I found navyformoms in searching for answers to my son's future. I just knew their had to be a site for dads like n4m's but I was wrong. So I started this site so us dads wouldn't feel guilty interacting in a woman's world. I'm new at this and I hope this site will benefit fathers that come behind us. So jump right in share concerns, join groups, share info, and show off your sailor. I'm so glad to find out their are so many proud navy dads just like myself. Good luck and thanks again for joining. So what is Dillon going to do in the Navy and how far along is he? EG
  • Rick

Once he gets done with boot, he heads down to Virginia. From the sounds of it. Another 15 weeks, then he comes back home for a while. He's in the reserves, based out of Omaha. I guess with everything going on, I'm VERY glad he chose Navy over Nat'l Guard, like he was considering. I think the Navy just had more to offer than going over and walking the streets of Iraq.

The Navy is a good choice. Since my son enlisted I've done alot of researching on the Navy. Wise choice by your son. Much more oppurtunity. (A little tip) If someone writes on your comment wall, under their message you can click on respond to message. That way it would have showed up on my wall instead of yours. You'll get the hang of it. Or you can click on their pic in the box and it will take you to their page and you can respond that way also. If you have any questions feel free to ask anyone on the site. We are a friendly bunch all in the same boat. Tell your son thank you from me for his service. ttyl

Hey Rick, welcome aboard! I served 24 years as an Aviation Electronics Technician (AT), and now my son Luke is in the USN. He just did his PIR 2 Fridays ago, and it was awesome! So tell us more about Dillon, and share pictures from this coming weekend!
  • Kevin

Wow, what a special send-off! You'll be impressed with the PIR ceremony, the sailors performing with flags and rifles are all graduating from boot camp, too. What is Dillon doing next? A school does allow more freedom, and we've received 3 phone calls from Luke just this week!

Rick I'm glad to hear you had a great time at PIR. It is something to experience. I'm glad you had the chance to make it. The group sounds like an awesome idea. Just start the group and everyone can add to it. For example we loved the boat ride that took us through the city by way of water. I would recommend that to anyone. This is your site so do anything you feel will help another. The rate is your sons job in the Navy. My son is ABE ( aviation boatswains mate ). It simply is what your child will be doing in the Navy. click here to see what I mean. I'm still learning too so don't feel bad. We're getting better. I need to start a group explaining the ratings. I know how happy ya'll were to see Dillon. It's tough not being able to talk to them while at bootcamp. A school allows them to speak to us more regular. I'm glad all is good with you and your family. Keep in touch and if you need any help just let me know.

Rick - So glad to see the pride and joy in your trip to PIR :). Wonderful pictures! Your sailor looks relieved and humble, God Bless him. Thank you for sharing your experience with us. God Bless, Michele :)

Oh well..I have to be patient and wait for the first letter or phone call. I am guessing since she said she would not call for about 3wks, thats when I can expect my first letter also???
