Dana thanks for joining. I found navyformoms in searching for answers to my son's future. I just knew their had to be a site for dads like n4m's but I was wrong. So I started this site so us dads wouldn't feel guilty interacting in a woman's world. I'm new at this and I hope this site will benefit fathers that come behind us. My son and his navy brothers and sisters will also use this site to interact with each other. He started his graduating group on here so that they could find each other once they get settled in A school. So please tell your son or daughter. I'm so glad to find out their are so many proud navy dads just like myself. Good luck and thanks again for joining. E.G.

My son Joshua, 19, left for boot camp on June 19th. We haven't heard from yet, but we did receive "the box" today, so I know he did arrive safely. And I am sure he will do fine. His twin brother Adam is finishing up his first year in the Air Force and will soon be part of a flight crew on the AWACS. His achievements and success really motivated his brother to enlist. He had to fight a little harder to achieve his dream, and finally pushed himself to finish his GED so that he could be accepted. He was really excited about his future in the Navy, and hopes to go to sub school and train as a Machinist Mate. He has the contract, but time will tell if his dreams will come true. I know his grandfather would have been proud, as he was a MM 1st class in WWII. And as an ex-Navy man myself I am very proud as well; as I am of his high flying brother in the Air Force. I wish them both the best of luck, as they pursue their dreams of a military career. Now if we could just get that initial phone call from him I'd be happy as a clam at high tide!!!

YES! We finally got the form letter with his address, and a short comment from Josh. He says he is doing fine, so now we can start writing to him. His mother was VERY happy, as was I. Josh has a contract to go to school to be a Machinist Mate on a sub, which is really cool because his grandfather, my dad, was a MM1 on a surface ship in WWII. Josh didn't know that until after he had selected the job. He is very excited about the idea of sub duty, and so am I. I think I have every submarine book and video there is, although I served on a destroyer.

I hope your son has graduated by now and is doing well. Josh's twin brother Adam is finishing his 1st year in the Air Force, so that's cool you have two boys in the Navy and AF, as well.

Dana - How are things going with Joshua? If I calculated right he should be close to graduation (PIR). Keep us posted on his progress :). God Bless, Michele :)

Dana - That is so wonderful to hear :). Hall of Fame is a great honor! Will you be posting your pictures here for all of us to see and enjoy :) ? How long does his A-school last? Does Joshua have an idea where he would like to be stationed? That will be so nice to go to his A-school graduation too! I don't know if the girls and I will have that luxury since school is in session, but if it falls around any holiday that we have off you can bet we will go :). Good to hear from you and get an update on our sailors! God Bless, Michele
