Welcome Aboard!
My name is E.G. and I have three sons and a beautiful daughter. I also have the most amazing wife, Cindy. Our oldest son "Evan" served as an ABE aboard the USS Ronald Reagan in San Diego, Ca and my family and I couldn't have been prouder.
My Navy Dads journey began when my son enlisted in April, 2008. I started building NavyDads.Com while he was still a recruit at RTC in Great lakes. I designed, built, and launched NavyDads.com June 18, 2008, two days before his Navy graduation.
My hope is that this site will help Navy Families find answers to questions, share concerns, help another along, and lastly, a place to show their pride for their Sailor.

What Were Your Feelings When Your Sailor Joined The Navy:
Thank you for the welcome! I am very proud and excited for my son and all our guys in uniform. I must say the boot camp experience has been quite the roller coaster ride for me. I can tell from my sons letters he is doing well. But, I know he is ready to move on with his future...Thanks again for the welcome and I will be checking back soon. PIR 6/26 DIV232
Thanks for the welcome..I have thoroughly enjoyed N4Ms and I know I will enjoy this also---I feel like I have joined a great big family....I am soooo proud of JH and now I am proud for me because I have such a great family now...Thanks again for the welcome and please let me know how your son is doing and I love him for what he is doing for our country...God Bless!!!
Thank you so much. Jamie bend in God bless U.S.A going on nine years now at the end of the mouth. Thank your son. so proud of are kids. People do not understand what are kids do for them. Jamie going to ca. on new orders. to train dolphins & seals bombs. she can not waith. she in va. right now. hay thaks for you time. pam
Thank you so much for starting this site. She goes to boot camp in February, so I felt that joining these sites would benefit me and the rest of our family. I'm so proud of my daughter, and I hope that she finds this as exciting as my father found it. I'm a little scared at the moment, because when she graduates, she will be different. She won't be my baby anymore. I'm grateful to you for writing back. Thank you -Kim
Thank you so much for making me feel welcome on this site. I have found that the navyformoms site has helped me with some of the things that I am concerned about so I just knew that you men could have some support for us as well. No matter the gender, I believe that we are all in this together. I had gotten a letter from my son and it was heartbreaking. He has never been away from home so he is homesick. I am hoping that he is finding his place and starting to feel better about being away from home. I am just being his cheerleader at the moment and I am hoping that it is going to work.
Thank you for the Welcome, it is good to have a place to share the experience. Especially today, our son made E4 today and was recently accepted at Old Dominion University. He is stationed at the Hospital in Portsmouth, VA. He seems to have found his place, as a Medical Corpsman in the US Navy, and now wants to continue his medical education and his Navy Career I could not be more proud of Brian, thank you for providing a vehicle where I am able to share with people that understand, David B
Thank you for the WELCOME! I do not mean to "boosh" in here - and fully acknowledge that you Dads need to have a site to call your own! Dads are so important to our Navy Sailors and or any branch as far as I am concerned, in supporting our sons and daughters and have much the same feelings and questions, and issues as Moms do - but often handle and or deal with things differently! Maybe in a more "stoic" fashion at times.
The Navy4Moms have been a God send since I joined a while back. I just wish it had been around 12 years ago! Jon's father does not use the computer if but 1% and anything he derives from internet communication usually comes from me or the other kids. Tho I have caught him attempting to navigate thru a few things - in time he will catch on, but for now he would just as soon catch up and or find out from someone else. Die Hard Farmer he is! I am also a member of the "Pay it forward Navy Mom Style" site on ning - Kinda a way for those of us that have a few more years under our belt - can help those "newbie mom issues" -
But of late they as well as the Navy4Mom site have been my rock as my son deployed 5 days before our youngest daughters destination to GRADUATION arrived! An Event our entire family were so proud of! Emilee had been born 3 months early and is a very strong willed determined young lady- despite her learning challenges! So it was difficult for all of us - Not having Big Brother here along with his fiance of 48 hours here to celebrate the momentous event! So that kinda sent me into a "Navy Mom melt down " as my friend Jill calls it.
I, too have been bless with many many Military Veterans in our area - so there are and have been many times I go searching for one of them -for shoulder to lean on, as I help with the Veterans and Honor Guard Center here when I can - being an associate member - and auxiliary member. I love my Vets! I volunteered for 4 days when the Traveling Wall was in our home town community last August - and that is one of the most moving experiences I have ever done - So I strongly Encourage - Everyone to get out and go see the "The Wall" if it ever is in your area! Don Allen and his crew have done a stupendous Job!
Have a great Day and Enjoy getting to Know one another - and I am here to offer support and or help if anyone ever needs it.

Thank you for you comment my son in with the USS George Bush I guess that is what they call it i am so new to this i am not sure how all this works i am also on the mom sight also and i don't know what you call it but my son works with the bombs and that worries me and that you for letting me talk.
Thank you for welcoming me. I'm also on the n4m's sight too. I'm new to this but it's very comforting to beable to talk with people going through the same thing. My brother is a gunners mate, but will be going to Afghanistan as an amunition handler. Not sure what that is, but sure sounds scary! My brother and I are very close and although I was upset when he joined (that was just me being selfish because I felt like I was losing my best friend), but I couldn't be more proud to call him my brother, hero and friend! I'm trying to get both my mom and dad to sign on, I know it will help comfort them while he's away. Thanks again for the welcome and letting me join your site. I think it's wonderful for you dad's to have a site too!
Thank you for creating a site like this for the dads. I believe that all our members in all branches of service, need our support, especially in this day. Plus, it is nice if we have questions that we can ask them, and someone out there will know the answer and respond. Navy4Moms is helpful and I am sure this site will be very supportive to many! God bless! Dee
Thank you for the welcome my son is on the Harry S. Truman CVN 75, he is in navigation and is excited about what he is doing. I am grateful because what he is getting out of the Navy, he did not get from college or hockey.
Thank you so much for your warm hearted greeting. and a.................
Big Hooooorah for jumping out there for the fellas. LOL Looks like a "job well done". Gary is in the final week of clinicals as a HM/Corpsmen, and will graduate Friday the 19th. He reported to GL in Dec. I've seen him once since then at PIR Feb 13. I look forward to having him for two weeks.
God Bless Our Sailors
Thank you so much for the warm welcome. I look forward to making new friends here and sharing our experiences and knowledge with each other. I am very proud of my Sailor and Marine for making this decision to serve this great country of ours. God Bless America.

Since you created the group for the Reagan, I thought I would share what I have posted in some other groups regarding a recent encounter with the USS George Washington.
Today I received an exciting e-mail form my son, Garrett who is on the GW. While out in the Pacific yesterday, their battle group met up with the Reagan and it's battle group. He said it was very cool to see all the ships come up close together. Then they had a hot "fly by" he said must have been close to the sound barrier. The Reagan then pulled up along side the GW for some photo ops before turning around to leave. Everyone was very excited. He will try to send some pics when they get to Perth, Australia. I will upload them as soon as they come in! It must have been very powerful to see and be a part of the strength of the US Navy!
Thank you for your worm welcome I found n4m on the tv and i like the fact that you can talk to other moms and dads. My son is in A school now in p-cola fl. Let me know when you have a group getting together in the near future I would like to meet them so I have a face to the people I have talk to!! I live about 8hrs north of san diago now.
Thanks for the "welcome"...I am not that active on N4M...but am active n a different site for families and mostly DEPers. I come from a long history of military famiy members. My uncle was in WWII on the USS Franklin and received the Congressional Medal of Honor and now has a ship named after him since he passed many years ago. There are many of my family that were and many who still are active in the military...even one cousin that is currently serving in Iraq in the Army. My other son is on Presidential Security detail with the Army's Old Guard in DC...so I am very proud single military mom!
Thanks for the welcome. I too am proud and glad about my son being active duty. I wish more young men would decide that it is noble to give of themselves to the service of our country, just as it was for so many of us who have gone before. It is a shame that so many adults, teachers, counselors, educators, seemingly "well-meaning" friends and others, tell them that they can "do better" than joining the military. Tell your son thank you for his service and that I wish him "fair winds and following seas!"
Happy fathers day. Thanks for letting me be a part of your site. My daughter is in Pensacola on a two months wait till school start. I am very proud of her to be serving our country.
Happy Fathers Day. I am proud to be a part of both this site and the www.navyformoms.com site as well. Thank you for your welcome and look forward to joining in on discussions... And I like your chat better lol rofl
I was very happy to find a site like this. It has been a long time since I did my PIR, and I was sure things have changed, and now I found a great place to ease my mind.
Happy Father's Day, EG. I hope you get alittle R & R and the royal treatment today. I know the ultimate would be to have Evan home to share it with you. Hopefully he will be able to email or call.
Happy Fathers day. My son has been on the Reagan since leaving A school in Sept.2006. I love the E-mail it is so nice to hear from him frequently. It sure beats the heck out of the snail mail his father and I had to use. These depolyments can not go by fast enough. I do love to hear about the ports and sights he does get to see.
Thank you for the kind welcome. I feel very fortunate to be among a group that encourages its members to discuss among each other and to support each other. Now, if I could only digure out if you have a group for Guided Missile Cruisers or what the heck an Operations Specialist does; my son's less than helpful in filling me in. Thanks again!
Thank you for the warm welcome. As I said in my profile I am retired Navy.My wife Crystal is a Navy veteran. If there any questions, concerns that you may have about your sailors please feel to ask us.We may not know all the answers but we know where to go to get the answers.
Dave
Thanks EG, My son Frank has been in DEP for almost a year now, but the time is getting close. He reports to Great Lakes on July 15. He's ready for the challenge, and excited to get started. I'm happy about the decision he's made, but a little nervous about his rate. I've learned quite a bit about the nuclear Navy, and I just hope he can handle the school. I know he'll do his best, and it's not Rickovers program anymore, but I'm still nervous. I guess thats just what dads do.
Oh Well... Thank You for setting this site up, and I'll be happy to join in discussions when appropriate.
Lance
Thanks for alying out the welcome mat. I commend you for al of yur efforts. This site IS truly helpful. The videos are awsome and give me more of an understanding of what Kris is experiencing.
When Kris began boot camp in May, they made him the Master at Arms. So I had to do some research and find out what that was all about. Then, they moved him to be the Recruit Chief Petty Officer. Wow, talk about added reponsibilities. He sees this challenge as an honor and is pushing himself even harder. The word "Pride", doesn't seam to fully express my feelings. I cannot wait to see him usher in his crew to the graduation.
Now I find that I look forward to checking this website long before checking my emails. :-)
I can't even begin to tell you how proud I am of my son, but I do have to tell you that I am very sad that he is "gone" for now. Zach has talked about joining the Navy and the Seal's for the past 6 years. Ever since the 7th grade, Zach has talked about the Navy. Now, he has started his dream. I know he will make the Seals because the drive my son has is indescribable. He will be among the best!!
EG,
Thanks so much for this site! My wife says it is Better than Navy for Moms! :) Ben has three weeks of Bootcamp left, and so far the reports we've gotten from him have been some of the most positive of his life! I think the Navy is going to be good for him, and he's going to be good for the Navy! :)
Sir, you have done well, this site is right.. thank you.

Hello, ours sons will be, like their predecessors before them, the ones watching over us while we sleep. Best wishes to your son in his future endeavors. They make us the finest Navy in the world.
Thank you for the welcome and thank you to your son for his job and taking care of us all. I will pass on your message to Devin. We're very proud of him and how he has taken to his military life. Grown as a man so much. Thank you again for the welcome and for providing an avenue for all of us to support our sons and daughters on their tough journey.
Hey you two, I realized that I had you as friends over on N4M's. Would you be horribly upset if I were to 'disown' you over there?! It's hard enough to talk to you on this site let alone on N4M. =0 Hope you are all doing well and surviving that yucky heat and humidity you get. It was a whopping 77 or so today, with a breeze. Was great to open the windows and air the house out. Hi, Cindy!
Thank you, EG, for the lovely welcome. I was unaware that moms could join this particular area, and I thank Sailor Moon for inviting me.
My son has been in for ten years, and we are so very proud of him. When I first joined NFM, I made the comment that our Navy has been good to my son, and my son has been good to our Navy.
He is back in U.S. territory, thank God. For the past several months, he has been overseas. I don't mind sharing with you that this past winter/spring have been pretty rough. My husband says that I should watch the news so I will know what's going on. I'm afraid to watch it, and I'm afraid not to. I do, then I'm sorry I did.
His captain has been absolutely incredible as far as my keeping my sanity. I think we all, at one time or another, have emailed a friend or family member and, sometimes, receive no reply. "I just didn't have time to answer", or, "Oh--I never received that. Maybe there's something wrong with your computer." I promise you--I have stayed in close contact with his captain. Within a couple of hours, I received a reply--religiously, without fail. I think that's pretty amazing when you stop to consider the number of people serving. I'm just 'one' mom. He must be a remarkable person. Yes--I am very pro Navy.
I enjoy the dad's points of view, too. Thank you for thanking my son.
I will definitly tell him, when I hear back from him, I am glad to be here, I joined Navy 4moms as well, but have not heard much from them so, when this site came up I just had to join.
Thank you! As a single mom and not really knowing about the military even though my dad was in the miliary long before I was around, I have found myself to have many questions. The N4Ms site has given me a wealth of information and have been so supportive. I'm sure Navy Dad's will be as well. I will be sure to tell my son as I hope you will tell your son from our family. My son will be in GLs for the next nine months for A school.
Thanks for writing to me about Shelton and your son. Shelton left for Boot Camp at GL Naval Base this past Monday and will be assigned to a carrier flight deck. He has been in the DEP for the past year.
thanks E.G.
it's people like you, that keeps us going. Debbie has been in since aug. 2007, she's been serving in the middle east for 15 months, sometimes it feels like 15 years. she's a IS which means she travels alone, so can get lonely for her too. but we're very fortunate, she can call home ALOT.
that's again. i'm just learning to e-mail, a brause but i'll do my best to stay in touch.
thanks to all the Navy Dad's out there for your sacrifices, it's hard to be left at home, and sometimes we forget how DEEPLY dad's feel too.
EG,
Thanks for giving us dads a place to get information as his stepmom is doing on N4M.com. She was always telling me about stuff that my son might be going through. I knew there had to be something out here for dads, so I googled "Navy Dads" and sure enough here you are. I am so proud of my son as I know all the other dads are too. One night I look in my living room from the patio wear I was grilling to see Navy Recruiters in my house. My first thought was " OH NO!" but realizing he promised his mom and what a huge decision this was for him I swelled with pride to see him transform into a young man. I have enjoyed the letters from RTC and look forward to his graduation from boot on 7/24. Thank you for the warm invitation and I look forward to meeting others. If there is any dads out there from DIV 259 I would love to hear from them. I am looking for a dad who has a son SR O'Donnel, he seems to be Kody's friend from boot.
Dear EG,
Thanks for creating this site. It was wonderful to find it. I find the Navy world to be mystifying and not easy to navigate. This is such a help to me. Also thank you for the kind words for Tucker. It will be so good to see him next week after 2 months. I know in fact this will probably be the shortest time I will not be able to see him but to date it has been the longest separation.

Hi, my son is on a USS CARR, ship, I do not hear from him that much, he is on deployment and should be comming into port soon, just don't know, when, I would love to know, what his daily routine is through out the day. He just tells me busy and hectic and thats all, it's always nice to recieve photographs some times, which I don't get. I don't know how other parents deal with the absensces of their loved one's, for me it was hard at first, because I ended up divorce, right after my son joined the service. I have only one daughter and she basically has a life of her own.
Thank you for your work creating this site and for your encouraging words. It is an amazing thing, patriotism. It transcends so many barriers and is a uniquely common bond. In late May we attended boot camp graduation at Great Lakes. We were directly opposite the large overhead door, so when it opened and the recruits came marching through.... very difficult keeping a dry eye. Families in the bleachers were beyond polite. They were kind.
This is a great site. I will be on the Eisenhower on 7/28/09 for the Tiger cruise. I wish I had found your site sooner, it is very informative. The videos are top quality and make me anxious to be aboard. Thanks for you efforts to make this forum available.
EG....thanks for the warm welcome. Sorry I haven't commented back sooner but I tend to mostly read and don't comment a lot. Kind of the quiet type.....not unfriendly. lol Thanks for starting this site and thank your sailor for his service. It is greatly appreciated. Hoping to learn lots of new things from the gentlemen on this site and hope I can contribute in some way myself. Thanks again!!

EG,
Thank you for your work creating this site and for your encouraging words.
