Welcome to NavyDads Glenn! I'm sure you'll find the site as fun and useful as I have. Explore and make some friends, add your comments to a discussion or two, read the postings in the various groups-- even start one or two. I have! If you have any questions or concerns about your sailor and what he is going through...ask! I'm sure someone here will have the answer or can point you in the right direction to find out. I'm lucky enough to have two sailors- my son Eric just returned from a seven-month cruise on the carrier Theodore Roosevelt (CVN-71) and my daughter Kat returned last fall from a seven-month cruise on the carrier Abraham Lincoln (CVN-72). And Glenn this is a great place to brag about your sailor as well! So join in and let us know how Eric is doing! Best Regards- Paul

MY son, (also Eric) is a Seabee with NMCB 5, out of Port Hueneme CA. He is somewhere in Afghanistan. I know he is part of a support unit assigned to spec ops but he says he can't say anything about where he is. He is VERY serious about his abiding by the security orders and probably is over cautious. I know right now he is in a part of the counrty where the sand storms are bad and he asked for eye solution like Visine. We just sent him a "care package" which included 4 bottles of eye drops. He said the sand is like baby powder and gets into everything.

He called "collect" last week and it was nice as his brother was visiting from out of state and they got to chat. I wonder what the MCI collect call rate is? I tried to find out and MCI was not at all helpful. Guess I find out when I get the bill. I don't know if a calling card will work from Afghanistan or not. I think he is reluctant to call becuase of the expense.

    Glenn,
I used to be in a construction battalion and I would like to send some care packages or mail to some Sea Bees and I was wondering if you could help me out with some names, addresses or whatever you can. There are lots of programs out there to send care packages but none that I've found specifically for Sea Bees.
    Thanks.
