I am the proud son of my Dad who served in the Navy between 58' -62'. I am soooo proud of my Dad for the man that the Navy helped mold him into and the patriotic person he is. As mentioned below, because of his military background (although not a career military man) I would like to present him with a drawing I am working on of a S2F Tracker that he flew along with a nice plaque detailing his ranking, time served, Commanding Officers name and whatever else I can find out about during the time he served. I would like to honor him now while he is still around and let him know just how proud I am of my father.

What Were Your Feelings When Your Sailor Joined The Navy:
I am actually the proud son of my Dad who served in the Navy between 1958 - 1962. I am attempting to find out as much info as I can about my Dad so that I can present him with a nice gift on Father's Day. He served in Corpus Christi, TX and flew on the S2F Tracker and was stationed at the base. I would like to find fellow comrads who served with my Dad, the name of his Comanding Officer and anything else that would make for a nice presentation. I do pencil drawings and am in the works of drawing a couple different views of the Tracker along with a plaque that details info of the Tracker, Rankings of my Dad and so-on. I am attempting to do this behind his back for a nice surprise. Any help with info, contacts of fellow guys who served with my Dad to photos would be greatly appreciated. I am also looking for patches that they would have worn during the 58' -62' years. I believe they were the VT-28's? You can e-mail me at youcanfindme@wowway.com. Thanks again!!!!

Doing research on my Dad...the planes he flew on, the ship USS Antietam that I understand he was on for a short period, looking for patches that his squadron wore during that time period and more.

Need help locating former Navy commrads of my Dad

Hello,

My Dad's name is William Robert Visnaw and he served in Corpus Christi, TX from 1958 thru 1962.  He flew on the S2F Tracker and I also believe he was on the USS Antietam for a short stretch during those years.  I am very proud of who the Navy helped mold him into (but of course I do need to give as much credit if not more to his mother) :)  Although there is a side of him that if he was anything like he is today that he was back then, then you will know of him being…

William, Welcome Aboard!

I hope this site might be of a help to you. You have a great idea for your dads present. Maybe one of our members might be able to share some knowledge about that time. Thanks for joining us.

Sincerely,

E.G.

Welcome to NavyDads.com William! I'm sure you'll find NavyDads.com as useful, educational and informative as I have. Please explore the site and make some new Navy friends.  Be sure to read the discussions add your comments or start a new discussion.  Browse through the postings in the various groups or start a new one. I certainly have! If you have any comments, questions or concerns be sure to post them! In my experience someone here can answer your questions or concerns or can point you in the right direction to find out. I'm blessed to have two sailors in the family - my son Eric (AM3) is stationed on the carrier USS Theodore Roosevelt (CVN-71) and my daughter Kat (MC3) recently completed her five-year enlistment on the carrier USS Abraham Lincoln (CVN-72). And William this is a great place to brag as well!  Please remember that we talk about the Navy here and we must keep the security and safety of our sailors and the fleet in mind at all times. On the right or starboard side of every NavyDads.com page is an area we call About This Site.  Please take a minute and read through the Operations Security (OPSEC) link for some guidelines as to what we should and should not talk about in a public forum like NavyDads.com. And stop by the NavyDads offical store- Navyoutfitters.com!  Show your support for NavyDads.com by wearing the latest in NavyDads attire.  Best Regards- Paul

William, Welcome to NAVYDADS. My Grandson joined the Navy and went to Boot Camp in February, 2008. When I joined I knew nothing about the Military and this site has really helped me understand what to expect and has relieved some of the worries I had. Please go to the Groups Page and check out of the different Group and join in to learn more about what your Guy or Girl will be learning and doing. We are a big family here and you can find answers to most any question you may had regarding what is in store for your recruit. You will find others that are new to the Navy along with those that have Loved Ones that has been in for some time. We like to hear about your recruit the good times, the concerns and the question. I think you will find that our member are just a great big family and everyone wants to help others understand what to expect and hear how your recruit is doing.

Please feel free to ask question.

Again Welcome and keep us updated of your recruit’s progress.
