Thanks for the warm welcome Tim! It is so nice to see so many friends and family members truly involved in thier loved ones lives and future. support is the best gift we can give to them as they continue to give us our freedoms!
Thanks Tim for the encouraging words, I'm excited to be a Navy Dad, and even more excited to share the experience with all the families who have sacrificed themselves and their children to defend our great country. I will check the site often and contribute when I can. Good luck and Healthy New Year to you and your family...
TNX for welcome note. I look forward to the site. My son was commissioned 4 1/2 years ago.....this is his first deployment - he flies the MH-60R, on the Abraham Lincoln.
Thank you so much! My son Jon just left for boot camp almost two weeks ago. My wife and I have tried to educate ourselves the best we can with the military so we can better understand our son's endeavour that much better. After basic training Jon will begin A-school for Operations Specialist which is also at Great lakes. My wife and four other children will be visiting Jon March 18 to see him graduate.
I have an 21 year old son who will be graduating college this Spring- who will be attending law school next fall. I have a 20 year old daughter who is also in college. My 19 year old Jon is the one who just entered the Navy. I have a 10 year old son who in 5th grade and a 3 week old infant son! One big family and I wouldn't trade it for anything!
Tim, thanks for the warm welcome and information. Looking through the Navy Dads site has already given me more information than I expected to know at this point. But I know there is so much more and I will continue to explore as I have time. Hopefully, we will hear from our sailor soon and be able to communicate with him through letters. If I do have a question, I will be sure to put it out here on the site or on Facebook. I am beginning to learn a bit of the Navy lingo here, so Bravo Zulu to you and the rest of the Admins doing this tremendous service.
My primary responsibilities revolve around social media- Facebook, Twitter, blogs, forums, etc. Our team is always on the look-out for people with questions regarding the Navy. We try to answer to the best of our ability and link them back to a page that can tell them more and give them more detailed information. Our goal is to get out there help as many potential Sailors as we can!
I can only imagine how proud you are of your sons for serving their country. Thank them for me and let them know that the Navy is truly grateful for their dedication.
Thank you Tim! I really appreciate the note. I am very proud of my daughters decision and her pick for Hospital Corpsman! I also have a Marine son deployed in Afghanistan. Please keep both of them in your thoughts.
Thanks Tim, really was blown away from the number of comments I got after joining Navydads. I'm super proud of my oldest for joining and she is now a month in Bootcamp. She called finally last week and she is doing great, she lost 10 lbs and can now do 30 pushups. lol, my girl almost grown up.
Thanks very much, Tim! I'm at work right now and have not focused on the site. I am really excited about being in touch with people from all over with sons in the navy. I will and more later.
Tim thank you so much for giving a welcome to this forum with all the other NAVY dads. My son Blake just left for Great Lakes this week for boot camp and he was in the Sea Cadets for four years during high school and also in Air Force ROTC through his high school at Edmond North. He has wanted to be in the Navy since he was about 12 years old and I am sure that he will have a good experience serving our country.
Thank you Tim for the warm welcome to the community . My son D is in 3rd phase of BUDS and I am waiting to hear that he and his class has been secured. Thank you again, Lance
Thank you Tim, you message is much appreciated. My son Mike has been in for a little over two years now. He is an IS on the George Washington, which made a hasty exit from Japan a few days ago due to the reactor in the north. So far he is enjoying his time in and enjoys the ports of call (who wouldn't?) So I hope his attitude remains the same and he makes a career of it. Time will tell. Once again, thank you and take care,
Thanks for the welcome and for such a great website. It was hard letting him go and not knowing. This sight has a lot of info and I can sort of track what he is doing. The videos are somewhat cute. I have seen movies and would believe that they are a little harder on them than portrayed in videos (not that that is a bad thing) I am proud of his decision and I know he will make it and be a better man for it. His recruiter has signed him up as a logistics specialist. Didn't know what that entails and I dont think he knew but thanks to your sight I know what they do and I think I know where he is going for A school now. Again thanks. Godspeed to ALL OF OUR SONS AND DAUGHTERS. Q. Who does the laundry? How does it get done? Cant see a lot of sailors standing outside the laundromat with a handful of quarters.
Thanks Tim, web site is awesome. My son Kurt is a grad and go. Do you know how much time we can spend with him after the graduation ceremony? Also we received one phone call from him, is this all we can expect? Thanks Duane
Tim, thank you so much for what you and the others do to make this site what it is. Brian will be graduating soon Apr. the 8th. and we can't wait to see him again. I am very proud of what Brian is doing in following in his families footsteps being in the military. His grandfather, my dad was a DI in the Marines and his uncle was in the Navy both during WW2. I was in the Army and the Air Force , and my brother was in the Naval Reserve also during the Vietnam conflict.
Our servicemen, past and present have made the decision to defend and fight for their country. We need to aknowledge the sacrifices they have made and remember them all. I was in a grocery store the other day and I was wearing my Navy hat a friend had given me, which I wear often. An older man and his wife were rolling a cart down the aisle, when he suddenly stopped in front of me. He was wearing a Navy hat, an old one with the name of the ship he served on. He looked me in the eyes and brought his hand up and saluted me. Having been in the military without thinking I also saluted him and told him thank you. This was a very brief, but moving experience for both of us. Just wanted to share how little things can make a big difference in someone's life.
Tim, my son Brian is going through battlestations as I am posting this comment. I know he will be alright, but just in case please say a prayer for him and the other recruits in his division 921. We can't wait to hear from him again and of course to be there to see him graduate.
I thank you for the welcoming msg. I'm not too sure of the protocol here so I thought I'd answer you first. I just learned of this site yesterday when I googled in OCS class 09-11. Kristin, my daughter is in this class scheduled for 4/22 grad. I only learn of their doings in encrpted Navy jargon and rarely understand it all. I DO know she's in Candio phase and is signing off as C/Lt Greene. I didn't know they had a rate in OCS.
My son, Adam, is a Riverine out of Little Creek, VA recently got a new rating IS from original enlistment of QM. There wasn't much call for that rating in the riverines, thus the change after intel schools A & C. His rate is recently 1PO. We haven't heard from him in a few weeks so don't know if deployed. If so, it will be his 3rd. Got to go, company at the door.
I know what an ET is and SWCC since my son Adam went thru BUDS up to Hell Wk before injury caused him to DOR. They then offered him the Riverines and now he's happy (and too old for a 2nd try @ BUDS: he's 30). He's never been on a ship unless you call their inland jet boats a ship. First deploy was as pilot but the next time he elected to be part of the landing squad each boat has. Three prior years at the usafa (includes prep school) gives him 9 yrs in now. Has reenlisted for 6 more so it looks like a lifer to me.
Kris on the other hand is in OCS and will outrank him after graduation with only 13 wks in service. Some turn of events, eh?
Our kids came late in life; I'll be 70 in July but they keep me young. I don't know much about what officers are trained in at OCS. Do they have a specialty? I know Kris is scheduled for SWARS right after grad in Newport but duration is unknown. I understand a CG-56 is in her future tho'. Can you, or anyone, fill me in on what to expect? By the way, we are in the mtns of New Mexico about as far from the sea as you can get. I hope to get to Norfolk this summer by motorcycle if either of them are around then. It'll be my 4th trip in as many years in a loop including New England where my older brother resides.
Thank you so much. As you probably already know my wife and I are both concerned yet extremely proud of our son. He is in the delayed entry program and reports on October 4 of this year. I have never seen him more determined and focused.
Tim, Thank You! It is great to see such a bonding amongst our sailors families. In Law Enforcement I only thought that was the only bond that existed. Thank you for your support we greatly appreciate your time and effort!
and thank YOU sir, for this opportunity. My son AT1 Beaudoin has proudly served 11 yearss as well. 1/2 way there !, his younger brother AB3 Beaudoin served 4, and thier brother in law has served for nearly 11 years.
I had the privilege of serving in the worlds finest navy way back years ago and i have noticed a lot of things have changed. I am thrilled to be here and meet all of the different views and thoughts. I served aboard the USS W.C .LAWE DD763 from 1976 to 1980 I completed my service as an E-5 machinest mate and am extremely proud of my daughter Shelbie and what she is doing if there is anything that i can help anyone with dont hesitate to ask. and i will be sure to try and get input from everybody that i can on here
I just want to thank you all for the very warm welcome. My wife is a member of the Mom for Navy site but unfortunately she is unable to post at this time as she is sitting in a hospital bed fighting some kind of intestinal infection so please excuse me if I am short. I just wanted to acknowledge your greetings and thank you all for your service, and your families service.....

Hey Tim, Thanks for the Welcome.
Looks like I'm in for a wild ride. So many new terms to learn. I have a spreadsheet opened for new words and notes to myself.
I think I'd like to tell my story and post it. Is there a Group it should go in?
"Support our Troops" took on a new meaning for me, especially today.
