Pass In Review Attire

I'm new to this, and was wondering if anyone had any suggestion as to what my wife and I should wear to the ceremony? My son is graduating on Friday 10/24.

OOps, just found the answers. :)

I'll reiterate what I've said many times on the site....during my two PIRs I saw everything from jeans to three-piece suits.  Suffice it to say that PIR is a formal military ceremony and I think anyone attending should be dressed appropriately....while I did not wear a suit, I did wear tie and sport coat and slacks....

Thanks for the info. I hadn't looked in the right spot for the answers. Too new at this! I am so amazed at the quick replies to me.  Thank you again!

understood Sharen......we were all new to this at one time or another.....just thought I'd repost how I looked at PIR....but remember, Chicago can get darn cold, snowy, and icy so be prepared and watch the weather forecasts---- we have a weather app in the PIR group for conditions in Chi-town,  Click http://www.navydads.com/group/pirtipshintsandhelps

click and scroll down a little way and you'll see it

Where are answers to these discussions?

I would go back to page 1 and read the comments...please remember that this is a formal military ceremony...I would dress accordingly

If it would still fit me I would wear my Navy dress blues, but as many of us do, I have that middle age spread so business casual will work fine, with my Navy Vet hat of coarse!

My wife wants me to wear my uniform as well, but I'm not sure that I should or not, because my dress uniform is long since lost and I only have my ACU's left and thats not really appropriate to wear to something so formal

I was glad to find these words of advice about what to wear to the PIR ceremony.  It comes down to me not packing a necktie and/or a sport coat, after all.

I like the james bond idea lol   really do .. people would fall over with this old marine outside of jeans and black t-shirt

I'd say maybe a tux. I wanted to go with the James Bond look but my wife wouldn't let me. Then I wanted to wear a cut off sleeveless shirt but she didn't go for that either. In all seriousness I wore what I would have worn to church or to play golf. Khaki pants and a nice polo shirt. As Craig said every attire go's. My advice is to wear something comfortable. If you get there early to beat the traffic as we did you will be sitting for a couple of hours waiting.

I'll go with Jim's comment that PIR is a formal Naval ceremony.  I've attended three such ceremonies in the two years since my son joined: PIR, A-School graduation and Power School graduation, and if I've learned one thing, it's that these events are not about you (and how cool your designer jeans with holes in them are), but are about your sailor and his shipmates, so dress accordingly.
