George, you may have already read my notes in the A school group. Our son is STG. Not in San Diego yet. Is
starting second week of SCC in Great Lakes then ATT will follow, no class date set yet (ATT is a self paced type of program so I think they only have so many seats with the computers so new sailors wait until there is a spot).

One of the STG moms grabbed a news story about the STGs that basically said they are expected to be in school for the first year, then another year on the job before they are really considered competent. And then it might be another two years before they are considered 'masters'. If I can find the piece again, I'll send it to you.

Our guy had a different impression of the training sequence from his recruiter, but that could be that the recruiter had limited information on what the Navy is doing now for the rate.
My son just got his job assignment as an STG and will be reporting to boot camp Nov. 16th. Frankly, he was interested in an MC (Mass Communications) position, but none were available when he went through MEPS. Since we live in Southern California, the A School location is a nice place. I'm still trying to learn more about this job - the upside and downside.
My son is in GL now (PIR 11/13) as an STG. He also said he would have school in GL prior to A school. He did not seem to know how long he would be there though. I believe at this point he is afraid to ask any questions. If you have any info please forward it to me as well.
