Navy Dads

My daughter is to PIR this Friday. Last Friday she called home in the morning all upset that she missed her run by 10 seconds and would have to re-run yesterday. We didnt receive another call and I understand no news is good news but I still have some concerns about PIR on Friday and well if she will be a part of it.

I would imagine that I would get some sort of phone call if not but what worries me is that we are driving out to Illinois from PA tommorrow night instead of flying because I am making a stop off on the way to make a visit and also the fact that well I will be honest, I have just returned to the workforce for the first time since last December and my savings has dwindled quite a bit in that time frame. I know nobody can answer me for sure, maybe I am just looking for a bit of reassurance but do you think if she didnt pass on Monday that I would have gotten a call by now?

Hi Dave,
My daughter's PIR was 16 Oct. She shared with me that there were a few recruits that had trouble with the run on their final PFA. They were given another chance the next week and nearly all of them made it. The recruits that still didn't make it were "sent back" to another division and they were able to call right away to inform their family. Like you've already said...no news is (usually) good news. Keep a good thought, enjoy your trip and get ready to be impressed at her PIR, it's an awesome experience.
Best wishes and congrats to my fellow Navy parent.

Bob is correct, "No news is good news", I got the same call, but it was due to a swimming fail, Deadmans float kicked my sons butt...and he told me, he would not be graduating....he called today, however, and has already graduated, but will not be in any PIR...he is now at ship #5, awaiting transportation orders..
Thanks guys. She did pass it on monday with a 14:15 so she gained 40 seconds this time. She did coast on the situps and pushups to save her body for the run. She called on Wednesday to let us know so I left home for the 12 hour drive with no worries. PIR was amazing, such a great ceremony they put together. So we had a nice day full day together today, tommorrow she has watch in the morning and duty at night so we have s short day together tommorrow which sucks but hey what can ya do. Thanks for the replies though.
