Best Driving route(s) to Great Lakes Coming in From The South
I have seen the directions to RTC page and read those directions. I was just wondering if there was any other tips or routes to keep in mind when traveling there. I have never driven into or around Chicago before and I understand there may be some toll roads,etc...so I just wondered about asking about other things that my wife and I could keep in mind to help us get there as quick as possible and with as few frustrations as possible. Are there better times to plan on driving through/avoid at all costs Chicago (besides the obvious rush hour time)? etc, etc....

We just got back from there. The toll booths on the main roads are usually manned so you can use dollars and coins but the offramps are unmanned so you must use coins. Tolls run from .90 cents to $2.50 and there are usually 2-4 that you'll be crossing. Keep an eye on the cash lanes when approaching the toll booths. They're usually to the right but one offramp we used had it on the left so I missed it.
