Does anyone have any information about buying and sending calling cards to recruits. We have looked at wal mart and several other retail stores the only kinds of calling cards we can find are those of either pay as you go cell phones or VOIP phone systems. I guess since there are very few pay phones anymore the calling cards have gone by the wayside. Any suggestions??? for the rest of our daughter's boot camp??? I am assuming she will get her cell back for A school if she doesn't what has everyone else done??
Thanks for the help, hope this isn't a stupid question!!!

...and yes. She can have her cell and laptop at "A" school.
I sure hope they monitor their use. My son was a gaming addict prior to enlistment.....
Rich, we got ours at the Walgreens up the street from us. If you go to their site http://www.walgreens.com/search/results.jsp?Ntt=phone+cards you can see the type we purchased. It was the phone card plus (not the international one.) I activated it at the store and can reload it if needed via the net. All they do is dial an 800 number, enter the pin on the card and then dial the number they want to call. We got one with 1200 minutes just because I didn't want my wife sad if it cut off during mid conversation. I bet they haven't talked on the phone 1200 minutes in the last 5 years :) I imagine other places have them, but check this out. Hope it helps. By the way, is your son graduating on 9/20 by any chance?
Our daughter was able to make a couple of calls during basic that lasted about 15 minutes. The calling card she went back with didn't work for her so we sent her cash and she was able to buy a calling card at the store on base that worked perfectly.
Are they still having to use calling cards to call home now during Basic? Just got my son's address..
Thanks, Ross
