My son will graduate Dec 20th, the Thursday before Christmas and we will be traveling to the graduation.
Is there a point of contact where I can find out if he will receive leave for Christmas and what his travel schedule will be?
Thanks in advance for any reply.

imagine he will ship to A-school Friday or Sat at the latest....only your sailor can give you details on his orders
Thanks very much for the info. My son is Div 803 so he will be going through Dive Prep at Great Lakes after graduating. I'm trying to figure out if he will have a different leave schedule after graduation due to Christmas or if he will be on base over Christmas.
haven't found anything posted by RTC about Christmas yet
We had a call from our son last week confirming that since they are graduating just before the holidays they are being granted 10 days leave. This was obviously great news. We just have to determine what his exact required return time and date will be but will know that at PIR, if not before. These forums are excellent and much appreciated.
Thanks Jim, will do.
Thanks again for the replies. Right now it looks like he will be released on 10 days leave starting the day after PIR. He is keeping us posted.
Hello All, My son has PIR on 12-28. We have learned about the adopt a soldier program for the holidays. There seems to be information that is mailed to the recruit's family. Does anyone know who sends this information? Additionally has anyone else received the packet? We are leaving on 12-26 to attend PIR but would gladly leave a couple of days earlier to "adopt" him for Christmas so that he doesn't stay at boot camp. Any information is appreciated. Thanks, Dave
Thanks for the reply. We received a short call today and learned that he was told he didn't send us the form because we lived so far away. Since then we have learned there really isn't any distance limit but rather that you only need to pick him up on time. A bit confusing for sure. We were told to call the PAO to get it sorted out. Not sure if that is a good move for him or not. Any input from anyone? I don't want to make him a target...
he's ready to graduate....what could "they" do? I'd call and ask.......on the other hand, if he didn't send the form he didn't send the form...deadlines are deadlines
David;
This program allows for the family of the Sailor to also "adopt" a fellow shipmate along with their sailor. Perhaps you can have your son find someone who is getting picked up and he can be the +1 and you meet him outside...just a thought.
