Command Master Chiefs serve as command-level senior enlisted leaders in a variety of Navy commands afloat and ashore. They have a significant role in every aspect of command-wide readiness and mission accomplishment. They report directly to the commanding officer and work closely with the executive officer in the formulation and implementation of all policies concerning the morale, welfare, job satisfaction, discipline, utilization, and training of enlisted personnel. CMDCMs are directly responsible for Chief Petty Officer (CPO) mess professional development.
Chiefs of the Boat serve as command-level senior enlisted leaders aboard fast attack, ballistic missile, and guided missile submarines. They have a significant role in every aspect of command-wide readiness and mission accomplishment. They report directly to the commanding officer and work closely with the executive officer in the formulation and implementation of all policies concerning the morale, welfare, job satisfaction, discipline, utilization, and training of enlisted personnel. COBs are directly responsible for Chief Petty Officer (CPO) mess professional development.
Chief of Naval Operations-Force-Fleet Master Chiefs serve as command-level senior enlisted leaders for designated flag level commands. They have a significant role in every aspect of command-wide readiness and mission accomplishment. They report directly to the commander and work closely with the chief of staff/deputy in the formulation and implementation of all policies concerning the morale, welfare, job satisfaction, discipline, utilization, and training of enlisted personnel across the claimancy. CNO-FOR-FLTCMs are directly responsible for CPO mess professional development at both the staff and subordinate commands. In addition, CNO-FOR-FLTCMs assist the MCPON in the development of Navy-wide policies and regulations. They may also serve in Unified Combatant Commands as Command Senior Enlisted Leaders.
Navy CMDCM - Flag Command Master Chief
Flag Command Master Chiefs serve as command-level senior enlisted leaders for flag level commands including both operational and supporting commands ashore. They have a significant role in every aspect of command-wide readiness and mission accomplishment. They report directly to the commander and work closely with the chief of staff/deputy in the formulation and implementation of all policies concerning the morale, welfare, job satisfaction, discipline, utilization, and training of enlisted personnel. Flag Command Master Chiefs are directly responsible for Chief Petty Officer (CPO) mess professional development at both the staff and subordinate commands.
Immediate Superior in Command Command Master Chiefs serve as command-level senior enlisted leaders for non-flag level commands having ISIC responsibilities over other commands. This includes both operational and supporting commands ashore. They have a significant role in every aspect of command-wide readiness and mission accomplishment. They report directly to the commander/commanding officer and work closely with the chief of staff/executive officer in the formulation and implementation of all policies concerning the morale, welfare, job satisfaction, discipline, utilization, and training of enlisted personnel. ISIC CMDCMs are directly responsible for Chief Petty Officer (CPO) mess professional development at both the parent and subordinate commands.
Installation Command Master Chiefs serve as command-level senior enlisted leaders for major Navy installations. Working closely with tenant Department of Defense (DoD) commands and non-DoD activities, they play a significant role in ensuring base-wide command readiness and mission accomplishment. They report directly to the installation commanding officer and work closely with the executive officer in the formulation and implementation of all policies concerning the morale, welfare, job satisfaction, discipline, utilization, and training of enlisted personnel. ICMDCMs are directly responsible for Chief Petty Officer (CPO) mess professional development.
Large Deck Command Master Chiefs serve as command-level senior enlisted leaders aboard aircraft carriers, amphibious assault ships, and submarine tenders. They have a significant role in every aspect of command-wide readiness and mission accomplishment. They report directly to the commanding officer and work closely with the executive officer in the formulation and implementation of all policies concerning the morale, welfare, job satisfaction, discipline, utilization, and training of enlisted personnel. They are directly responsible for CPO mess professional development as well as providing senior enlisted mentorship to CMDCM-COBs of embarked or alongside commands.
