Navy Dads

I got a letter from my son today saying he believes they will be changing "ships" on the 18th. His Division is 423 and is scheduled to graduate on 11/8. However, he indicated in his letter that his "compartment keeps messing up and is in danger of being set back". What does he mean by compartment and how soon will I know if the compartment is set back? I know it's not uncommon for a division to change buildings, or is it? Thanks in advance!

this is from RTC so you can see how the divisions are set up:

Your berthing compartment (sleeping quarters) houses up to 88 recruits -- your entire division. Male-female integrated divisions are housed in single-gender compartments but come together for training. It is where you sleep, shower, dress, iron your uniform, and polish your shoes. It also is where your RDC instructs you on proper folding and stowing techniques, passes out vital information, and hands out letters from home. You will be inspected, stand watch, and practice marching in this space. You will be responsible for cleaning every square inch of it (all 350,000 of them). This is your home for the next seven weeks.

It is a common ploy for RDCs to use that threat...divisions are NOT held back....individual recruits may be held back if they have issues with tests or inspections.  Changing ships not terribly uncommon but with recent governmental turmoil, who knows what is going on!!!!!!

Thank you so much! This site has been a great help to me during his bootcamp. I sincerely hope we are able to make the "meet & greet" when we arrive on Nov. 7th

certainly try to make it....I have heard nothing but rave reviews of what Sarge does...be sure to let him know you heard about it on NavyDads!!!!

Most certainly! Thanks again!
