Navy Dads

A Sailor goes on Over seas duty, extends for a 3rd year, at the end of the 3 years is within 3 months of End of Active Service. Can they, and why does the Navy forcible extend to within 30 days of EAS preventing job searches and College Applications??  Anyone know of an answer?

It's simply because they will not transfer anyone to a new or temporary duty station or location for only 3 months. It's just not practical or economical to do this, especially from an overseas duty station.  Usually they require a 2 year commitment for any transfers or new set of orders.  Being transferred in the military is not a simple process.  Plus where would they go and who would want to have a new person come on board for only 2-3 months??  It just doesn't work that way.  I would question as to why they would be prevented from searching for college or job opportunities.  That doesn't seem right and would guess your sailor could still do those searches.  It might be a bit more difficult being overseas, but the internet makes things much easier nowadays.

True, but searching doesn't mean placement, that requires face to face. A friend of mine sitting at the DMZ fighting for his life in 70, 3 days latter sitting in Disneyland wandering what the hell happened, you would think the Military would improve its disposition.
