Navy Dads

We've been gearing-up for the past several weeks to ship Jake off to RTC today (July 4th).  After a very difficult weekend (including an AWESOME tribute at Church on Sunday) and as instructed by his Recruiter, we took him to the Recruiting Station at 9:00 this morning.  Following a very tearful goodbye, we left him there for an "overview" with the Recruiter and then he left on a Govt. supplied shuttle to the Houston, TX MEPS Station.  From there, he was to leave dark and early tomorrow morning for RTC.

After arriving at Houston MEPS this afternoon, he was told that there were no Sailors scheduled to ship to RTC tomorrow.  He will spend the night at MEPS, return home and try to work through another ship date with his Recruiter.

I know that all PIR's are scheduled on Fridays.  Does anyone know if there is a standard start day for each class?  I guess I'll need to learn more about this, if we're to avoid future mistakes by our Recruiter.  My family can't take the roller-coaster again.

Thanks Jim.  I appreciate the reply.  I'm not looking for a standard date that they start, rather a standard or typical day of the week  (ie. on what day of the week does "p" week typically start).

Yeah, I've joined the Boot Camp Group and need to join the PIR as well, but I'm with you...let's get him to RTC first.

Gracias!

OK, some reparations made.  Lieutenant Dan showed up at Houston MEPS at 0500 this morning to bring Jake back home (ie. he didn't have to wait all day for the shuttle to bring him back to Aggieland).  Super nice gesture.  The Lieutenant must have been up at 0300 to make this happen.  It does appear to be a Recruiter screw-up, but we're all human.  We'll climb back on that horse and go again.  It looks like our newest ship date will be July 20th.
couple of weeks to have him do some more running....and practice ironing !!!

Your first intro to "Hurry up and wait"!!  Also, best advice I can give is "PAY ATTENTION TO DETAIL" once he gets there.
