Navy Dads

We received our first phone call today. I missed it but my wife was able to spend about 20 min on the phone with our son. He said that he was only getting 3-4 hours of sleep a night. He is the starboard watch section leader and he has to be present for every change in the guard. I was wondering if he will get any relief or if he will have this assignment all the way through basic. Told him to hang in there because it is on the down side now ... graduation day is July 8 ... he is really looking forward to graduating. Thanks for this forum .... any other Dads out there with a son or daughter in 12 - 226?

Yes ,we have sent Zak a couple of calling cards. Had a second phone call from him Saturday!

Paul ... yes the weeks are flying by! We had a second call from Zak on saturday and he sounded great. they have relieved him from having to serve stand watch. He only has to supervise he watch change now so he is getting a  bunch more sleep. apparently the Division is doing really well which is why he got another phone call.

Thanks sending out today
Hi there Chuck!  I have a grandson who is in ship 12, Div. 220 and he is set to graduate on July 8th.  We received a call from him on June 21st an he stated that his Div. would be doing firefighting and gas chamber this week. The following week should be battle stations for all Divisions a week prior to PIR. My daughter and I are looking forward to his graduation.  He said he is really enjoying Bootcamp so far.  We can hardly wait to attend his graduation of July 8th. Will you also be attending as well.  As far as your question regarding your son getting any relief for his post, I don't know how they handle that assignment.
Hi Ron ... had a phone call last Sunday and found out Zak did get some relief. He no longer has to serve watch ... just supervise the watch change. He is feeling much better. Getting a lot more sleep so all is well.
That's great news Chuck! Well the time is going fast and before you know it, July 8th will be here. Hope we can meet up at PIR.  Take care!
