Just back home from July 1st 2010 PIR DIV 229
Happy 4th of July everyone and thanks to all who serve or have served our country!
We just got back back from our son Collin's (DIV 229) July 1st PIR last night and only one word to describe it. AWESOME!! I'm one proud papa and have all the goodies I bought at the NEX to prove it! :-)
The only thing I'm bummed about is that even though the Navy Medical
program has been officially moved to San Antonio it turns out my son has
to stay there in Great Lakes for A school. So much for having him right
down the interstate from us here in DFW. I think his graduating divisions are the
last to have Hospital Corpsman A school in Great Lakes, but he thought he would be here in TX. Anyway, off to enjoy the 4th and drink a few cold beverages. Hope everyone has a safe

Our son is scheduled for PIR in a few weeks and we were told before he left that he would stay in Great Lakes instead of going to San Antonio for A school. He might be the last group. We're from Austin so it was really disappointing to learn he would stay so far away. And, he just told us that his A school is going to be 20 weeks instead of the 14 weeks he originally told us.
