He has been gone only a day and I already miss him a ton! Get to watch him swear in in the morning and visit with him for a little before he boards the bus. He has been staying with my Fiancé and I for the last 2 months cause him and his Mom weren't getting along. I really loved having him here. Got to spend a lot of quality time with him. It's gonna be tough to see him go tomorrow. But I know it's what he wants. He wants to follow in my Dad's footsteps(who passed away 6 years ago). I am so proud of him. We had a going away party for him Saturday and there were a lot of tears shed at the end of the night. he and his twin brother had a great moment crying in each others arms for 10 minutes. They have never been apart in their 22 years. I have so many different emotions going on right now. I feel sad...but excited. Cant wait till December to see him graduate! Sorry about the long rant......just have to vent a little. Gonna be tough going to sleep the next few nights.

Congratulations and Welcome Chris!! Bring a camera tomorrow for the ceremony......you will undoubtedly capture some very special images. Good Luck tomorrow......
My son is in week 3 of Boot camp seems like yeaterday we were doing what you are. Good luck to him and it will get a little easier as times goes by.
Man, it was so hard saying goodbye today. Didnt want to see him go. Feels like i've been to a funeral today. I feel so sad and depressed that he is gone. But proud and excited for him? Hopefully these feelings improve quickly......don't think i can handle crying for 2 months! Lol
My son finally got into Great Lakes around 1:30 am EST last night. That 30 second phone was to short...lol. It was good to hear his voice one last time. Hopefully he earns a few phone calls in the next couple months!
my son just got there last night on10-8-2014
maybe they'll be in the same division?
My son arrived the same time as yours. I got a call from him about 0135 telling me he was ok. At 0435 I received a call from his number; he did not answer but I could hear voices. Then I received a call at 0436, 0440, 0445, 0451, 0454, 0502, 0510 and then at 1337 today! I can only guess he butt dialed me or forgot to power off the frickin' phone before he packed it up. Pay backs are hell LOL!!
My son came to live with me after living with my Ex since he was 6 as I was active duty during that time. He came right after his HS graduation and lived with me for a year for two reasons. To establish his residency in Texas so he would be able to utilize the Hazelwood Act and he had to wait a year after stopping his ADHD medication in order to get a waiver to enlist. If those two situations weren't applicable he would have gone straight in but I'm so glad they were as we were able to bond again! I tried not to spoil him. He did a lot of work for me around the house but I wasn't always hard enough.
To me it's like he was my daughter and I walked her down the isle at her wedding to hand her off to the groom, The Navy in this case. Not so much a funeral but I know he won't be coming home to stay for good (hopefully!) but only for visits. I feel sad too especially since I wasn't there for his entire childhood but I also know that he's starting his adulthood in the best way possible. Everything that happens to him for the next 2 months will make him a better man for the rest of his life. That is something every parent wants! Gotta go now and help rearrange his former room. At least he decided to thoroughly "field day" it before he left!
My daughter got there On Oct 6. I got the call at 2315 that night. Her "Box" arrived today. Hoping for the form letter to get here so we can send her some mail. I have already got 4 letters written to her just need a mailing address. I remember how hard boot camp was for me in those first couple of weeks. I talked to her about it a lot before she left but nothing can prepare you for the homesickness you feel those first couple of weeks.
Man all seeing all those calls had to get you excited...then a major letdown. Lol. Cant wait for that next call in a couple weeks!
My son's "box" arrived today...but no one was here to sign for it :( So now i have to sign the slip..place it on the door and hope it gets delivered again on Monday.
