Navy Dads

My daughter is set to ship out to BC on Oct. 25.  With that date when would her graduation fall.  I am also concerned about travel in the Great Lakes area during Dec.  Since I am from SE Texas I don't drive to well in that cold whte stuff.

not going to lie to you, travel in Great Lakes that time of year can be a pain. On the other hand, it might just be cold as all get out....so pray for he best and expect the worst!

Dates...look at the Friday eight weeks after arrival at RTC......when you read the past posts in the Bootcamp group you'll see that sohrtly after arrival you'll receive a short form letter from your sailor....PIR dates should be on that letter.

Mind you that things change accorking to sickness or injury or not passing sooemthing like battle stations...I know it is a pain not being to plan bettetr, but as you get into the first few weeks schedules should start to firm up. Aslo spend some serious time in the PIR group....there are a ton of suggesttions and hints there about PIR and what to expect.
Thanks for the info. I am used to the AF jobs, names, titles and etc. This Navy stuff is kinda confusing to me.

just keep reading Weldon! And if you are unsure about anything...ask! We've all been down this path and for most of us it was like a foreign language. At the top of the page is a FAQ's tab....this is a work in progress but that is a good place to start reading and learning. Also in the Bootcamp group are a series of links (anything in blue on the site is a link) that you can click....spend some time exploring and the terms will begin to make sense. After over five years of having sailors in the family I still have to get on the internet to find out the meaning of various things!!

my daughter just informed me that she is going to try out for rescue swimmer. she is very atheletic, she is a college softball pitcher, but she is not a strong swimmer. The recruiter told her "NOOOO problem. We will teach you."I told her she better find out first.

we have a Rescue Swimmer group...I'd join and ask Brad about it. Only SEAL training is tougher.......

My daughter's graduation from B C will be in Oct., but the snow dont fall untill the latter part of Nov.
Thank you for your family's service. I pray she is doing well. I don't know anything about Navy BC, but when my son graduated from Air Force BC he said that the physical part was as he said, "a joke". But the mental part was a little harder. I thing that I am most worried about is the snow in the winter. Us folks from SE Texas freak out when we see snow. I am worried about being able to see her graduation.
