Navy Dads

Navy Dads will be opening a store this coming Spring! The name of the store will be Navyoutfitters.com. I previously offered shirts and gifts through Cafe Press on the site but will no longer offer them because of a list of issues.

1. Cafe Press is a company that anyone can upload their own images and sell at no cost to them.
2. Prices are to high ( Cafe Press set a high price on their items) I can do them at a much lower cost, in turn will be able to offer them at more affordable prices.
3. The quality of their products could be much better for the price.
4. I have no control over the inspection of how the product looks before it ships out.

This was a temporary way to offer logo shirts and such at no cost to me. But I feel the best way to do something right is to do it yourself. That is why I'm starting my own store because my name and this site (Navy Dads) which I created is accountable for the product quality and customer's satisfaction of merchandise sold. It is also a direct reflection of my integrity and character.

This site runs at a cost each month to me so offering Navy products for sell will help pay the bills and make this site bigger and better in days ahead . People have so generously offered to donate money to this site in the past and I'm thankful they are so willing to help. I have told them all "the day I ask for a donation on this site is because it will go 100% back to the Sailors. My intentions are pure. I want to make an honest buck like everybody else. I will start the store small with a few products and a percentage of the profits will go to a fund to help Sailors.

Now I would like your input on what are the needs of the store. I plan on starting with one or two shirts, hat, ribbon magnet, etc. I want to keep my cost low in starting so I'm wondering what our members are willing to spend their hard earned dollars on. Below is a magnet idea I have that will sell for 5 to 6 dollars a magnet. Will people buy this? I have taken the magnet off because I cannot use the Navy Emblem on it. This company was in the wrong. I will post the new magnet soon.

I've also thought of a hat or visor that just has Navy embroidered on it. A shirt that has Navy on it or more detailed. Logo shirts that will be at a cost of around 10 dollars. The Navy flag is another product I thought of offering. I'm looking for every one's input on ideas of things us parents would like to see offered. Sorry for being so long winded and all the support everyone has given me.
Sincerely, EG

Hi E.G. Was just reading the post on the store you are planing on putting online and one of the suggestions that i had thought of before i got to it was the coffe cup of mug idea.I can't speak for everyone, but as for myself i can not have enough insulated mugs! I could probably run you out of them.lol... And not just for myself.
As far as help, were you refering to graphic design? If so i could talk to my daughter and son-in-law and see if they would be able to help.Never hurts to have a couple of puter literate youngsters in the family! Let me know how to help.
Steve !!!!!!!!
I would also purchase merchandise!! T-shirts,sweatshirts ect..
It would be great to be able to have hats that say my son/daughter is an Navy airdale, crypto, spec ops, etc. And for all dads My kid serves so yours can be a slacker hooyah!
EG,

This idea may be a bit too costly but thought I would toss it out there any way. I would like a Navy Dads challenge coin.

I'll sure be interested in the products you offer. When I was at Great Lakes for my sons graduation I really liked a lot of the stuff they had in the store on base, I think it was like a PX, but don't remember exactly what it was called. A lot of great Tee shirts, and I spent around fifty bucks in there. But hey, I can't ever get enough tee shirts, or bumber stickers, or cling ons, and stuff like that.
My grandson has just enlisted in the U.S. Navy.I saw on a site that a Gadsen Flag(Ithink that is what it's called) was being sold.It is supposed to be flown for atleast one day aboard a ship while in port.I remember the cost was $59.00 I want to get one for my grandson's graduation in November. My problem is, I can not find the site that I
read about it.It's the Don't Tread On Me Flag.I f there's anyone that can help me ,it would be greatly appreciated. You can e-mail me at yawntsum@bellsouth.net
James,

Any update on when the store will be up and running?
John,
yes I've been meaning to give an update on the store. It has taken me a while in getting the business opened ( paperwork, cpa's, finding suppliers, etc. Also it a took a while to contact the Dept of the Navy in the pentagon to get the permission to do Navy t-shirts. All the good stuff in starting a business. The store will offer Navy Dads logo items and Navy items with phrases I've come up with. The hardest obstacle was finding a graphic designer to do the art work. I have finally found a great designer that is working on the designs. I'm shooting for an opening date of July 1 or earlier. The store will open with about 5 different t-shirt designs, koozies, coffee cups, mouse pads, the Navy flag, polo shirt, hats, visors, and few other things.

I will not be able to open the store with all the items people have suggested but will try to get as many as I can. If the store go's well, then more products will constantly be added to the store. For instance my wife wants to do a Navy doormat because we never found one that we liked from when our son enlisted a year ago, so she wants to make one. The most time consuming obstacle is to find company's ( suppliers ) that have what we want. It's like finding a needle in a haystack.

So everything is looking positive and most of the hard work has been done. Now it's time to buy the products and have them printed. So it has gone from everything being chaotic to looking like everything is finally falling into place. I want to apologize to everyone for it taking so long but it looks like it will be up and running soon.

Sincerely, EG
Excellent!! I hope you sell out the first day!

EG,
Sir I have a question???? what kind of doormats is your wife looking for? I know of a website that has a 20"x30" for $18.99. This might be the cheapest that she will be able to find them for. i will add the link at the end of you have any interest at all. I purchased 2 of these after my son left for boot camp (one for me and one for daughter-in-law) so far they are holding up pretty well. Pass this along to Cindy or check it out yourself.
