• Is this your first SR "seaman recruit"? If it is then you are at the right site. This site will give you the tools, and resources to keep you up to date as far as what your SR will be doing from one week to the next. As well as being able to talk to fathers that have gone through this "currently speaking". Look around the site...create a page for your future sailor. Be a proud father this is deff. the place to do it. This is not only a journey for your SR but as I have found out it is a journey also for us fathers or mothers. Hello John, My son, Kyle, started yesterday as well. Now the wait for phone call, kid in a box, and the Division letter... We live in the Chicago area, so we were able to see him one last time for dinner last night and that was rough enough, I feel for the parents that had to leave their kid at the recruiters office or airport from other states.

You are right as far as leaving the kid at the recruiter. We dropped her of at recruiter at 3 a.m. Then met up with her at M.E.P.S.. And sat with her through out all the final processing. Then the final drop off at the hotel at 8 p.m.. That whole day was torture...long and drawn out. I used to spend my summers in San Diego as a kid. Hell I was born here also. But the memory that will always stick in my mind is watching her walk to the door of the hotel and vanish. For those of you that live in Chicago or close to RTC you are so, so fortunate. You don't know how lucky you are to know that you child is at least an hour away. I am sure it has to be allot more comforting.
