My son Andrew is leaving August 4th for Boot Camp. I drop him off at 10AM at the recruiting office. I am very proud. He is the first member of the family to serve since my dad served from 42-45 in the Pacific. He has been around since he was a baby and this is going to leave a big hole. Selfish I guess.

wow sorry. Since we lived so close my son had to take a small van from Indy to GL. He got there late afternoon. He was texting the whole time so we knew when to expect the call. I know things go by pretty fast after getting there. I am sure your son and mine will be graduating together and maybe in the same company. His recruiter told us that he could find out the address and company in just a few days of him getting there so I will be checking back with him at the end of the week. Even though I was in the military for awhile I never really thought about the impact it had on my family, we weren't as close as I am with my son though. I feel like a part of me is missing, but I am so very proud..The wife and 11 yr old daughter are not handling it well. My daughter has been sleeping in her brothers bed, she really misses her "Bubby". well enough of that stuff. I will be in touch with you Ron..I am sure we will meet at graduation, I will be sure to look you up.
well my son just called, he hurt his back and they are medically discharging him, tough break... he will be home in 2 weeks. So I will be leaving this site for now. My sons friends will still be leaving for basic in a month so I will still be watching....My God Bless each of your sons and daughters as they continue on.
Sorry Paul. They must hit it hard the first couple days. Good luck to your son.
