My son left for the Great Lakes November 3rd. I got the CALL yesterday saying he was there. Any other Dads out there have a son that just went in ?

hes not my son but my friend ryan shipped out on the 3rd as well
My son went in on Oct 28th. Other then hearing from him the night he arrived we have not heard anything. His sister said his mom (my ex) received his belongings that he had taken with him. So I believe all is well although I am sure that the Holidays are going to be pretty sad around here.
Yes Shane they will be sad times. I was in Great Lakes Bootcamp and i know it will be quite a few weeks until we get a letter from them .

Hi eoddad, my son left on Nov 5th and he will be in SO bootcamp. I believe your son will also be in his same group if he is EOD.
his recruiter should be able to provide you with your son's ship and division number....if not now, within a coupel of days. If you click this link (which appears in the About This Site area on every NavyDads page) you'll see a link to RTC's list of current addresses you can use for letters.

My son left on Nov.9. I finally heard from him on the 10th around 8:30 pm. I was expecting a longer call, but this site warned me it would be short, and it was! I'm so very proud and at the same time miss him already. Waiting to hear when and where I can write to him and send him the phone cards he'll need to call home. Another thing I learned on this site but too late to send them with him.
I just got my first letter from my Son today. I had gotten the address from the recuriter yesterday and was gettting ready to send a letter today when his arrived. Made me feel so much better sounds like he is doing good and starting to like it.

FYI Just start writing letters and once you get their address mail them out! Write one a day and it will really mean alot to them! or send a card each day with an inspirational quote from you or something that will motivate them in a positive way! Tell them each day you are proud of them, andit will mean alot to them!
