Navy Dads

I am trying to send my kid his computer at Great Lakes.  He completed boot camp.  He gave me his mailing address.  The mailing address is valid.  He is getting his mail.   The only problem is that Federal Express cannot deliver it at his address since it is obviously inside the base.  Any thoughts how I can re-route the delivery to an address which Fed Ex can in fact deliver?

Thanks much,

Michael

is he still at RTC? If so he cannot have electronics....

I had the same kind of problem with Fed Ex.  These shipping companies deliver to the base all the time.  It took several phone calls to Fed Ex to get it done.  My situation the computer came from overseas and went right the the address.  Tha additional software came from Kentucky and the could not find the address. Story I was told is that international shipping was corporate and the deliveries inside the US were frachise.

My son had given his C school adress for the delivery.  I could find the address on google maps, but Fed Ex could not figure out which building to go to. Yor son will have to find out an address on the base that you can tell Fed Ex like the Chapel or maybe his school.  He can not just give you an address withou going to someone like a Chaplian or an office person at the school to let them know that the package is comming.

Paul you are correct. They will not deliver the package to RTC. I took this to mean the sailor is accross the road main side at school.
what happened to that lock box service that was on here about 8 months ago?  Maybe the Skipper knows?

You will not be able to use a delivery service like FedEx or UPS. When my son was in "A" school, we had to send his computer through the US Postal Service. Maybe it'll fit in a flat rate box.
Yep! I believe the brass got wind of the lockers and put a stop to their business because of the affiliation. I meant to check to see what happened but never did, I'll have to try to give them a ring. I imagine it was doing great while running though.
I sent a couple of boxes to my son at A-School. in great lakes.......use postal service.............
