This Discussion is intended as a place where parents and other loved ones who have SRs with a PIR of 30 November to gather and meet-and-greet and talk about this adventure. Of course, I suppose anyone is welcome.
If anyone knows of others on facebook and navyformoms.com, please direct them this way, too.
Hopefully, this will be a place where we can share stories about phonecalls and letters from our SRs.
And I look forward, already, to meeting all of y'all at PIR.
Sincerely,
Scott

Jose - I lived in the Chicago metro for many years and I can say with absolute confidence that the weather can be almost anything on Nov. 30! There were some very rare days in late November with temperatures in the low 70's and other times when the weather did things that I block from my memory. On the bright side, the end of November was almost always better than the end of January. As Jim said, just watch the forecast. Note that at that time of the year it can be very chilly early in the morning even though the forecast afternoon high looks pleasant.

I think it's a bit early to get a forecast for that far out. You might check out the weather channel for a long range forecast. But by that time of year, it will be pretty cold. Might even get snow.

Great Lakes Navy lodge is the only one where you can book a reservation without needing to be Navy....but you must give PIR info when making reservations.
David, it's exciting to have an address, now. Start mailing all those letters you've been writing! What Division is he in?
David Smith said:We got the form letter today. Glad to get the official word.
Scott,
My boy, Al, is also ship 03, division 21 with a graduation date of 11/30.
He's going into the Seebee's as a UT. His A school is in Texas.
All my best to your son Justin.
There is a lot of talk these days about "the 1%". I tell folks the true 1% we should be talking about is the 1% of our population that has enlisted in The United States Military.
Al and Justin, all our brave and determined sons and daughters who are making a positive difference in the world. The pure 1%.
Best Regards,
Al Rutkowski
