This Discussion is intended as a place where parents and other loved ones who have SRs with a PIR of 30 November to gather and meet-and-greet and talk about this adventure. Of course, I suppose anyone is welcome.
If anyone knows of others on facebook and navyformoms.com, please direct them this way, too.
Hopefully, this will be a place where we can share stories about phonecalls and letters from our SRs.
And I look forward, already, to meeting all of y'all at PIR.
Sincerely,
Scott

Donna,
We have not received a letter yet. However, about the change in the ship form 03 to 04 for Div 21, I saw a post on navyformoms.com that said their son was in Ship 04, Div 21, and I thought they were wrong. Now, it looks like the address our sons were told to send to us was incorrect. I really hate that because we have shared his address with frinds and relatives through church bulletin boards, emails, word of mouth, etc. How do I go back to everyone and change it? It's frustrating, but there's nothing I can do to change it, so might as well accept it and drive on.

One SR gets to call home. Another receives a personal letter from her SR. Sounds like some families are having good days! Maybe tomorrow, Tim, we'll get a letter or a phone call.

My wife just talked to a lady who's daughter left the same day as our son. Her daughter got to call home tonight, the lady said she sounded really excited. I couldn't believe she got to call home on her 14th day in boot camp.
remember that your sailors can only write on Sundays....as a result Wednesdays and Thursdays are the typical days when you might get mail.....
There are a couple of Meet and Greets on Thursdays...ND however is not organizing any and the best we can say is ask around....check Flannigan's, The Ramada, and Sarge's Meet and Greet. There are back posts on the site about each.....go to the Main Page and at the bottom left is a Google based search that will search NavyDads
BTW- here are the current addresses:
SR LAST NAME, FIRST NAME, MI
SHIP XXX DIV XXX
XXXXXXXXXXXXXX
GREAT LAKES IL 60088-XXXX
Ship 2 Ship 3 Ship 4 Ship 5 Ship 6 |
Ship 7 Ship 9 Ship 10 Ship 11 Ship 12 |
Ship 13 Ship 14 |

Stephen,
I am watching for announcements everyday about the meet and greet. (I look on the navyformoms.com site; they list the schedule.) Currently, the farthest the schedule goes out is 2 Nov. So we might not know until early Nov when Sarge and others schedule their meet and greets for 30 Nov PIR. (I don't know who Sarge is!) When I see the information over there, I'll push it to this forum.

I feel like a first time "Cricket" player. I can see what people are doing but I have no idea what is going on.
NavyDads Co-Admin, Jim said:That's correct Janie. The meet and greet is on Thursday evening and is for the parents and families. Your sailors are not allowed to leave the base on Thursday. You will not see your sailor until the graduation ceremony when they march into the drill hall.
JanieG said:What is this meet and greet deal? I thought the first time we would be able to see our Sailors would be at the PIR???
NavyDads Co-Admin, Jim said:Just an FYI for all of you in this group. November 30 is also this administrators birthday. So at your meet and greet, be sure to have one for me!
So glad you got a letter Scott V, so did I ! Couldn't be happier!

Thanks for the link on the meet and greet, Gary. PIR is still 6 weeks away, so we have plenty of time to plan for our meet and greet.
Scott
Aww it is already planned we are all going to go trash Gary's room and have a wild party. Bed time follows at 8pm. :o)
