Navy Dads

Hello Everyone, I have a quick question--We are trying to figure out when the PIR will happen.. Our son left for boot Camp (GL) on Sept 2nd --considering basic is eight wks--would this include processing days? or is it 9wks all together? (Would the PIR  be 10/24 or 10/30/2014?) thanks.

I have the same sort of question. My son flew to GL on 4 Sep, got "the call" at 0115 GL time on 5 Sep. I figure that 5 Sep was his first P-day. From what I've read, that first Sunday has no holiday routine, so I assume that they continued with P-days, meaning that today, 8 Sep, is P-4 and he should be done with P-days either today or tomorrow. If his first week starts Wednesday, 10 Sep, how does the rest of his bootcamp go (assuming no setbacks)? Each week is 5 days, and the next week starts immediately after - i.e. not calendar weeks but five consecutive days excluding Sundays. So, would the first "week" be Wed, Thur, Fri, Sat, Mon, and the second "week" be Tue, Wed, Thur, Fri, Sat, etc.?

Typically the first 4-10 days  after the new recruits arrive at RTC are called Processing Days or P-Days.  Around holidays and sometimes for unforeseen issues (flight delays, severe weather, etc.) P-days can last up to 14 days.  Although recruits are assigned to a ship and division upon arrival, these assignments are not final and they do not move to their designated ship until P-days are over.   Unplanned events may change that ship assignment.   Your sailor's recruiter may give you an address a day or two after your recruit arrived at Great Lakes with a particular division that may not be final. This is why NavyDads always advises you to wait for your sailor's form letter with his or her correct address.  That letter typically arrives 5-10 days after they have shipped to RTC.

Hi Mike,

My son went in 8/26 and his PIR date is 10/24 so most likely its 10/30/2014

Received letter today from daughter in gl  and says that her graduation day is on 10/24 ....she arrived in gl on 9/27...so does that mean that her pir date will be on the 24th....I'm just trying to make sure...
