Navy Dads

My son's division took longer than normal to process and is considered a "Push" division. Is that so that they can or will graduate on time? Just want to be sure we have reservations for the correct weekend. Long drive from South Carolina.

Hi Ken,

LOL - I think Carson started maturing some before he left so maybe it's not just the rigors of the Navy but the Navy definite has contributed to it.  Although...there's still signs of the lazy Carson still alive and well.  He said that he might be a "bleacher xxxxx" during the graduation ceremonies.  He thought that was cool because he would be mostly standing around and after the ceremony he would be cleaning up underneath the bleacher.  SR Carson "minimalist" Earl is still out there :-)

We called him "minimalist" because whatever required the least amount of effort, he would do!

Mike.

Anybody get letters this week? The wife is so wanting to hear from GL! Is this Hell Week?

We got a letter from Carson yesterday.  It was a GREAT letter.  He's doing very well.  He said that most of the time it's "fun".  He said that they can wear their rank now.  Also, the talked with other Nuc Petty Officers to discuss the different ratings.  Carson chose MM and volunteered for Sub.  We were surprised at both choices but we are proud that he chose what he wants to do and not what we recommended to him.  I always thought that MM was more fitting for Carson.  He seems to be very happy and excited.

Anybody watching today's PIR, unless I'm wrong, and anyone is welcome to correct me, I think I saw Matt carrying the TEXAS state flag. He definitely didn't carry the SC flag. Anyway, nice to get a glimpse of my boy. Anybody hear how HELL week went?

I was wrong, 943 provided the flags and color guard.

I started to watch it, but I want to get the full first impression when we are there so I closed it.

Alyson found Matt as a Body Snatcher at the back of Div 275 or 276. Time stamp of 46:38, A female in a blue jacket walks behind him as he comes into the field of vision. The wife was ecstatic at this! I was excited too. Hope the other families get a view of their sailor. Can't wait for next Thursday and Friday.

Best Wishes,

Bill

We also got the letter with the great inspection scores and the news that Matt had scored his second ribbon, hopefully that means small arms and shotgun. Matt also made some comment about Kate Upton being the most beautiful woman on the planet, whatever. At least, he hasn't forgotten about the outside world. He was moved up to Dental assistant when another sailor took a DOR.

yes....that ribbon is a given

Ok Div 945 parents, ready for this photo? Alyson just sent it to me from last week's PIR! Can't wait for next Friday! See you there.

Bill

Oh yeah, Matt's the one on the left.
