My son Noah is with Ship 2, Division 904? Anyone out there with an SR in this same ship/division? Are you heading to Great Lakes to attend 12/5 PIR? Hoping to meet other parents at Sarge's Meet-n-Greet.

Hi Jay...great to hear from another parent. From what my son says, there's about 88 SRs in this division so hopefully they've gotten to know each other. Hope your son's experience has been a great one these past 5 weeks. We're coming in from Seattle and I chose to fly into Wisconsin on Thursday and hope to make Sarge's Meet-n-Greet as well. Hoping the weather doesn't impact any plans to attend PIR. In my next letter to my son, I'll share with him our connection and your son Doug...in the case he knows your son. Looking forward to meeting you at PIR. Awesome to hear from another parent. Is your son remaining at Great Lakes or is he transferring to A-school elsewhere?
Wow Jay...how cool is that! Thanks for sharing that...Noah mentioned he's met a lot of cool guys in the division. I'll have to share this with him in my letter and send that off tomorrow. I did tell Noah to encourage his fellow SRs to get out to NavyDads so we can all leverage off each other. I know I'm doing "much" better now that I've got to speak to him directly a couple of times. That first call especially alleviate any curiousities (aka anxieties) and I was in a good place knowing he was thriving and doing well. Maybe you and your wife can relate to the transition that I've experienced. Now I'm looking forward to PIR.
By the way Jay...my son is also going to A-school in Texas. His job class is HM. So you may have the same questions I have in regards to post PIR...curious to know if we'll have a couple of days to visit before they leave to TX or if they are heading out the next day. More info to come on that I'm sure as PIR gets closer. I'm heading to PIR no matter what even if just for a few hours to stand proud in front of our sons and all the SRs.
Jay, is your son performing at PIR?
Thanks back at you Jay...and thanks to your son for mentioning my son's name in his letter to you and your wife. This website truly has served it's purpose and I am glad to have connected with you. I've already written a short letter to my son and informed him of tonight's events. It should put a big smile on the boys' faces. I believe Noah will be singing at PIR so I am hoping to log into the live stream and watch two PIRs prior to the Dec 5th one...that I understand, DIV904 "may" be performing at those two PIRs. I'll keep you posted if Noah confirms that in the next few days.
Last I heard from Noah is that he will be singing (choir I believe). He was in Choir and Jazz Choir for 3 years of HS. Says he has a few nicknames from the DIV...They call him MusicBox, Tunes, SAGA (which was my nickname throughout GS and HS), Sagajaweeyah and Sag-in-the-Box. Too funny eh? I think the boys are heading into week 6 next week so I think they are learning Fire Fighting skills...should be a fun week...just wondering how they are handing the cold. Noah said "Hawaiian's are not made for this cold....at least not this Hawaiian"!
Right on to that Jay. I'll keep you posted in the upcoming weeks...especially as Noah gets this letter. I'm sure the boys can use any shot of positivity and knowing we've connected on the outside will be a nice surprise for them. I'll be in touch...take care Jay and best wishes to Doug as well as we head into PIR. Catch up in the upcoming days...this old dog has to get what beauty sleep he can get in. Thanks for replying to this forum...made my eve. Cheers!
