My daughter arrived at RTC 9 June and was assigned to this division. Since I didn't see anything for this Ship/Div I thought I'd put something out there and see if anyone elses daughter was in the same division. If we get enough people maybe we can keep tabs on the group as they go through Boot.
A little about me. I have three daughters and all joined the military. My oldest is Air Force, Security Forces and is currently serving at Aviano AB in Italy. My middle daughter is Army Reserves, Military Police, and has a deployment coming up this fall. This is my youngest daughter and she just got to Boot and enlisted as an Intelligence Specialist.
So basically this isn't my first rodeo with BMT/Basic/Boot, but it is with the Navy. Interesting to see how different branches handle information coming out of basic training. The Air Force was pretty tight and we really had no information, pictures or anything unless something bad happened, which it did. She broke her foot during training and was in Med Hold for 8 weeks before she could continue her training. The Army on the other hand had a Facebook page for the company and posted pictures every week. Looks like the Navy might be a little tight with information also.
Well anyway, I hope someone shows up. If not...oh well. I wish all the SRs the best as they embark on their adventure.

Hi guys, sorry it's been a few days since I checked in - we have been busy moving from VA to Florida. We've had 3 calls from Brad so far - apparently he was rewarded with an extra call for answering the "stupid question of the day". He's been assigned as "head PO" so he's responsible for getting them to keep the head clean. I'm sure that keeps him busy. We've also started to recieve letters - short, but letters nonetheless.
Brad will be going to Lackland AF base to train as a MA after bootcamp. He's hoping to graduate A school in the top 10% of his class so he can be assigned to canine duty.
Hope all of you and your sailors are well. Looking forward to meeting some of you at PIR.
Hi JIM, It's also been a few days since I checked in. Long days at work. After reading your post this morning, I believe My SR works with your SR keeping the Head clean. My Sr wrote the other day and said that was his job within the division. I had told my SR in one of his phone calls home that I talk on this forum. He asked If I knew any names, If it's alright with you the next time I talk to him I'll drop your name.
No problem Ted, Hope your SR is doing well.
Well, looks like our kids are at the halfway point now. Things should be getting easier for them and hopefully a little more fun. Graduation and then A school will be here before we know it.
Just a few days left folks. How's everyone holding up?
Here's a little humor from a salty old Chief...
A man is flying in a hot air balloon and realizes that he is lost. He reduces height and spots a man down below, fishing. He lowers the balloon further and shouts: "Excuse me, can you tell where I am?" The man below says: "Yes, you're in a hot air balloon, hovering 30 feet above this field." "You must be a Chief Petty Officer.", says the balloonist. "I am" replies the man. "How did you Know?" "Well" says the Balloonist, "Everything you have told me is technically correct, but it's of no use to anyone." The man below says "You must be a Junior Officer." " I am", replies the balloonist, "but how did you know?" "Well", says the man, "A few moments ago you didn't know where you were, or where you were going, so you came whining to me for help. I answered the exact question you asked with completely accurate information. You didn't know what to do with that information, so you are still hopelessly lost but now you are blaming me!"

Talked to my son this afternoon for about 20 minutes re names, addresses and telephone numbers. He did tell me that Battle Stations is tonight (7/29). It will be over soon, so be expecting that final call of "I'm a sailor!"
It's official! Battle Stations is over and our son is now a Sailor! He just called with the good news. He sounded very upbeat, happy it was over, and looking forward to PIR and then heading off to Pensacola. We are definitely looking forward to visiting with him on Friday!
Jim, sorry that I couldn't find you but it was mayhem after the liberty call, as you know. It was a great ceremony and we were as proud of our son as could be. I'm sure you felt the same about yours. We spent the rest of the day together but he left for the airport this morning at 1:30am for a 7am flight. Thus, no attempt to meet up at O'Hare. We have just returned home to Kentucky after a 6 hour drive from Waukegan. Tired, but very happy we went. It was a great experience for all of us, and I don't think I've ever seen our son happier to see us than yesterday.
