Ship 11 Div 236 PIR date 1 Aug 2014
My daughter arrived at RTC 9 June and was assigned to this division. Since I didn't see anything for this Ship/Div I thought I'd put something out there and see if anyone elses daughter was in the same division. If we get enough people maybe we can keep tabs on the group as they go through Boot.
A little about me. I have three daughters and all joined the military. My oldest is Air Force, Security Forces and is currently serving at Aviano AB in Italy. My middle daughter is Army Reserves, Military Police, and has a deployment coming up this fall. This is my youngest daughter and she just got to Boot and enlisted as an Intelligence Specialist.
So basically this isn't my first rodeo with BMT/Basic/Boot, but it is with the Navy. Interesting to see how different branches handle information coming out of basic training. The Air Force was pretty tight and we really had no information, pictures or anything unless something bad happened, which it did. She broke her foot during training and was in Med Hold for 8 weeks before she could continue her training. The Army on the other hand had a Facebook page for the company and posted pictures every week. Looks like the Navy might be a little tight with information also.
Well anyway, I hope someone shows up. If not...oh well. I wish all the SRs the best as they embark on their adventure.

Haven't gotten a phone call yet....but when he called for his 2 minute
call he said it would be 3 weeks. As they say, no news is good news.

Likewise, no call yet either. And, like Jim said (and as our son's recruiter told us) "no news is good news." It will be nice to hear how things are going when he finally does get to call. He is pretty stoic about a lot of stuff, so will be interesting to hear his take on RTC.

Hi Jay, My son is in Ship 11 Div 236. We also got his letter on Monday. We have received 2 30 sec phone calls asking to fax info, like passport. Wish we could have talked to find out how things are going.
My son just finished one year of Jr college.> He figured college life was not for him. He is going to Pcola after BC for A school (IT) also.

Hi Ted, welcome. My daughter's A school is Dam Neck, VA (IS). She was originally told that she would go to Pensacola and was excited. We are originally from Florida and have spent a lot of time around there.
We only got the one short call so far. Sounds like everything is going well.

Guys, not sure if you know but I found a Facebook page for the PIR 08/01/2014. Go search on FB PIR 08/01/14 Navy Boot Camp. It's a combined page for all divisions graduating that day, and is a closed group so you'll have to ask to join. Not a whole lot going on just yet, but may be a source of some additional information as time goes along.

just always be aware that this Navy journey only starts at boot camp and will last years past PIR.....if you have questions about Boot Camp, as the saying goes....you ain't seen nuttin' yet with regards to the questions you'll have about A-school and life in the fleet

Well, just finished a telephone call with our son. He is doing ok, but has been sick and confined to quarters for a couple of days due to a stomach flu. Feeling better today. His spirits were good, though, and I think he will make it through just fine. He admits to having extreme trouble folding clothes (something he has never done before in his life). In many ways what he is going through is a system shock for him (and one that will be good for him). Just glad he was able to call.

Ted, I don't think we will have time to do one. We are driving up on Thursday, will go to PIR and then visit with our son on Friday, and then drive home on Saturday. Are there organized meet and greets on Thursday?

Steve The meet and greet Is on thursday evening between 5 and 8, run by a gentleman called sarge. He has links on N4D and N4m sites. I under the impression that this is the thing to do the night before PIR. The food is free, He just wants a donation to cover expenses. We got our phone call about an hour ago. All seems good with him, The yelling is not as severe as it was the first week. He requested more letters, he is mailing His first letter tomorrow. We were sending letters with pictures on them. He told me no more pictures, they have to share the pictures with everyone.
