Navy Dads

We're down to the last 7 days before he ships out.  At first his mother and I were very upset and disappointed that he didn't want to go to college and that he never talked much about military service.  He has worked so hard in getting and maintaining his AIRR contract that now we could not be more proud of him!  He and I have spent the last couple of months doing all the father-son trips(Yankee game in Toronto, Hockey HOF, Giant football, and NJ Devils home opener this weekend).

This Sunday is the family farewell with Grandma, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.  We know he's very excited and nervous, but he also knows we are all behind him 100%.  There haven't been any tears yet but I'm sure that may change come next Tuesday.

Thank you to all who have served and God bless to all who are serving and all who are about to serve.

holding a division over is the oldest threat there is....it will not happen- divisions do not get held back

Actually, he's concerned HE will be the one who gets held over.  The rest of the division seems to be way ahead of him.

unless he fails inspections or fails to pass physical tests he should do ok....the timed run and swim tests are big hurdles

We got a call from him tonight!  3 weeks in and he sounded much better than the 1st call 10 days ago. He aced his PFA and knowledge tests, moved up to E-2.  Things are looking up with 30 days to PIR!

Heard from him twice in 2 days and he thoroughly enjoyed the break from boot camp and the wonderful Thanksgiving meal. PIR in 2 weeks!!

4 days to PIR!!!  We know Battle Stations is up next and we're waiting for the "I'm a Sailor" call.  He managed to learn how to make a rack and stow his gear the "Navy Way".  We can't wait to see him!

We just got back from PIR and WE HAVE A SAILOR!!  He was very nervous and shaky at the beginning, he wasn't going to quit but there were times he thought he would never graduate.  Now it's off to Pensacola.
