Navy Dads

So after battling the weather for a few days here in the NE, my son finally flew out tonight.  I am so excited for him for the journey he is about to embark on.  I hope that he will find all of what he is looking for on this adventure in his life.

Brian,

Our son left on 2/4 and we received the form letter yesterday (2/10) Ship 04 Division 811. PIR 3/28

Brian and Sean,

My son flew out a week before 1/28 and has the same PIR 3/28. We got his box but not letter as of yet.

My Son ships out in about 5 weeks. We only live a hour west of Great lakes in far west suburban Chicago, But guess he goes through the Milwaukee Mepps for our north region of Illinois, then ships down to Great lake. His date was delayed by about a week, because guess Navy recruiting command wants to do a PR photo opportunity with Chicago Bulls. He reports to Milwaukee Meps on Mar-18, On 19th  they told him , he will ride bus to O'Hare airport in Chicago, to pick up more recruits. Then from there they are going to a Bulls practice session- where they will be sworn in, then all shipped to RTC.

I come from Army background as well, and learning most everything about Navy from son and sites like this. Being a former Army Drill Sergeant , I have been coaching him ( when he listens). I have no worries about his physical conditioning-in this he is ready. I tell him going through basic is about 70% mental conditioning and attitude, 30% physical. Some times he fails to pay attention to details , Im sure most teen agers run into  this condition from time to time. But I rest assured a PO will get in "his face" and cure that habit fairly quick (lol).
