Terry my son is also currently serving on board the Normandy. I'm anxiously awaiting their return. It is his first deployment.
Guy, This is my son's first deployment also and it seems he really likes the life on board
I am also waiting for their return and really hope the Korea stuff doesn't mess up their return
Thanks for the reply and hope to hear from you soon
Terry, Glad your son is enjoying his first deployment. I recieved a call from my son this morning from Crete, he said your son had told him we were conversing on Navy Dads. It sounds like my son has had enough of ship life. He applied for and now has orders to transfer to MSRON 4 when he returns to Norfolk. I'm not to sure I like the idea of him running around in a little boat "closer to the action"(as he put it). Means more deployments as well, but if that is the way he wishes to surve then I'm happy for him.
Guy, I also spoke to my son and he said that your son is the most down to earth officer on board and that because of this he has the enlisted men's respect
So congratulations on having a son that will go far in any thing he does because of his attitude towards others
Can't wait to see my son in just a little while, Thanks for the confersation, it really helps to know someone with children in similar situation
Terry, Thanks for relaying your sons kind words about my sons performance, and thanks for your complement. I'm really glad the enlisted men respect him, he is growing into a good young man and his mother and I are very proud of him. The excitement of the ships return is growing every day, unfortunately we will have to wait to January to see our son since he will not have leave until then. We also want to give him and his new bride a little time together before mom and dad show up. Especially since he was deployed for their first wedding anniversary. But just knowing he is home is the best Christmas present I could hope for. Are you planning on being there for the ships return? I sure wish we could be but with his sister and brother still in school we just won't be able to make the trip.
Your very welcome, spoke to Chris yesterday also and he's excited about coming home
No, we won't be there for the ship's arrival but I have already purchased Chris's ticket home so he can be with us for Christmas
We are planning a trip to Norfolk some time next summer if he is still in port, he said he would have the ship schedule when he returns home so we will be able to plan then
Thanks again and God bless ours sailors
