From anything I can gather, he provides a meet and greet for family and friends of a graduate. It is at the Sundance Salloon. Thats pretty much all I know.

So is there a signup list or do you just show up Thursday night @ 1700? My hotel, Courtyard by Marriott is 343 ft away from the Sundance Saloon. I've got a $100 bill with Sarge's name on it. Awesome that he would do this for squids current and former.

Just found the RSVP and signed up.

Sarge is an outstanding person. I met him at his Meet and Greet when my son had his PIR back in April of 2012. We flew in from out of town and my son's girlfriend was to arrive the next morning at O'Hare Airport, I arranged for Sarge to pick her up at 7:30 AM, that morning of PIR, which was Good Friday of Easter weekend. He got her on time at Great Lakes for my son's PIR, which started at 9:00 AM and he treated her like a Rock Star! Amazing guy! I will always be grateful to him. He is also highly recommended by the Navy Moms website.

My son's PIR was this past Friday 8/16 and there were 12 of us total who came all the way from Minnesota.  Obviously there were only three of us who got to go to PIR, but everyone wanted to hang out with our Sailor after the ceremony.

I RSVP'd and said that there would be 12 of us there and it was not a problem.

Sarge gives out a TON more information than you can find anywhere else and has lots of suggestions and recommendations for everything from what your Sailor will want and/or need after graduation.  What the best route to got to PIR is and what the best route is to drop off your Sailor.  Which gates to use.  The best directions to the airports depending upon which one your Sailor is leaving from.  And so much more.

One thing that was also impressive, was how Sarge made sure that EVERYONE there had one of his cards so they could call him anytime if they needed anything at all.

Great presentation too and our retired service veterans with us were also honored to be included in the nights activities.

I strongly recommend attending it.

You'll walk away with a better knowledge of what your sailor has been through, and what is ahead for your Sailor and you also as a member of the Navy Family.

have to smile sometimes...the best route to PIR is posted in our PIR group as well: http://www.navydads.com/forum/topics/by-pass-buckley-road-traffic-f...

Also, I talked with Sarge 8/15 and told him how much this website has helped me not only get through boot camp and understand what my Sailor's future holds.  And, he recommended joining some of the groups that pertain to my Sailor's future career with the Navy to learn more, but also to join some of the groups to help others who might have questions too and need to hear from other Dads about their experiences.

By all means, attend the meet and greet he puts on.

And, thank you again to the administrators of navydads.com.

Do yourself a HUGE favor and go to the orientation. He tells you the best place to sit, the best way to get to graduation, $3 a person. Where to get cushions for the hard seats at PIR $5 at Walmart. Feeds you and gives MUCH love to Vets current and former. He even recommended where to get the best pizza. NY Slice was great! AND YES i delivered on my $100 promise. Well worth it! Sarge, his wife and crew are all God sends!

Bravo Zulu, Sir! Thanks for paying it forward!
