Navy Dads

My wife saw somewhere on Navyformoms that the majority of recruits will have their wisdom teeth extracted by the third week.

Does anyone have info on this?

I had mine removed while on leave. My dentist was a Navy reservist. He did it as an emergency and the Navy paid for it.
Well... if its anything like the Marine Corps, they'll give them light duty and a few tylenol following the procedure (which by the way does not mean bed rest) and next day it's right back into the grind...bloody gauze and all.
My son just called me and stated that he got his pulled out a couple of days ago. Today, he got his H1N1 shot. As far as his wisom teeth, he said he was too numb to feel the pain. He said he got 2 days of SIQ. That's a good thing right?..............
Eddie, when did your son ship?
Brian mentioned that he went to the dentist during "the call" to his mom. As I previously mentioned in this thread, we had Brian's wisdom teeth pulled before he left for boot camp. If they gave Sean two days in SIQ, he'll hopefully be in good shape as long as he follows directions and keeps the gauze clamped down. I remember when I got my wisdom teeth pulled as a teenager, I was in pain for a few days afterwards. The pain medication should see him through his recovery in SIQ though.

Honestly, not everyone gets their wisdom teet pulled at bootcamp. All personnel are evaluated and it is determined if there could be a future issue with their wisdom teeth. I for one did not have any teeth pulled while at Boot Camp.

yes this is true because they do not want any problems with them while they are out to sea before my husband left he was looking up all that info
