Chuck, does your son bank with NAVY Federal? I have heard from several sources that if the government should shut down all those who have direct deposit with NAVY Fed will receive there pay. NAVY Fed will take it back when the government does.

Best of luck Chuck. I am sure he will get leave. Sounds like he has about eleven months on my son.

We are in western PA and Great Lakes is the closest he has been.  His C school was in Whidbey Island, Washington.  Then on to Hawaii.  We have not seen a lot of since he left in Feb of 2008.  Looking forward to June.  It is my understanding that the chit requesting leave is in.  We will see.

Chuck, my son interred the NAVY on 13/01/09. He was at Great Lakes for one year and 4 days. He had a 2 week leave over Christmas 09 and then again 2 weeks in Jan 2010 prior to C-School in San Diego. We are from Illinois and live approx. 121 miles from the base. He did come home almost every week-end while he was in school. The base operated on a system of one full weekend a month was worked and the other three were free. We did see quite a lot of my son during his first year there. He went to San Diego on 01/Feb/10 and has not been home since. So to answer your question he has not been home for 14 months. Sorry long story for a short answer.

Gary  How long has it been since your sailor was home?

Yes he will return to GM duties. He is cranking on the ship only. I don't know when he will try for home, hopefully this summer.

Hey!

Will he go back to his shop after cranking?

Mine is still deployed.  His squadron is supporting Operation Tomodatchi.  Deployment willl be over later this spring.  Hope to have him home on leave after deployment?

Hello Chuck, long time no hear. My son is doing well. He is still cranking until mid month. He has been out to sea several times in the last two months with a deployment in the near future. He said he can't wait to leave home waters and see more then just Hi.
